Most of us boarding tomorrow have received notification of delayed boarding tomorrow due to gastro intestinal illness on the current sailing. Any one out there on the Solstice now? How bad is it?

We are currently in Barcelona and wondering if we can drop off our luggage at the pier earlier? Any one have any idea, or should we wait until the new boarding time to arrive?

How did you get notified? We're on this cruise, too and I've heard nothing from Celebrity as yet. We're in Barcelona and wanted to get to the pier around noon, but of course we don't want to sit around for hours twiddling our thumbs! Hopefully somebody already has more info.

I don't know what the procedures tomorrow are but I can tell you what we went through in a similar situation on the Millennium in Barcelona 4 years ago.

We arrived at the port at noon. We were allowed to check in and issued sea passes. We were told about the noro virus outbreak and that boarding was delayed until after 3PM to allow for sanitising of the ship. We were given a certificate for lunch and bottled water good at a couple places on Ramblas and complimentary buses were provided to/from the Columbus monument. They also has a secured area for checking carry-on luggage in the cruise terminal.

We enjoyed lunch in Barcelona but didn't use the coupons which seemed like they were for a fast food type restuarant, but went to a Tapas restuarant instead. We ate at one of the touristy tapas places right in the middle of Ramblas - not one of the nicer tapas places we've been to in Barcelona but the food was fine enjoying the area and people watching during lunch. After several subsequent trips to Barcelona we'd now head to a place off of Ramblas if we did it again but it was fun and enjoyable at the time.

Our cruise was great and whatever they did in that extra time seemed to take care of the problem as our cruise did not have an unusual number of cases and the ceased special procedures on board a few days into the cruise.
