First time I've ever received "THE" phone call....offer was to upgrade to the Grand Suite (deck 7) from an 8E (Lido deck balcony) for an additional $800....on the Valor this Sunday .....

 

worth it ? What do you'all think ?

I have never had a suite, so I may be way off base, but that 800.00 would pay for all my excursions and drinks, plus casino money...so no, I would not do it personally!

Thats an upsell not an upgrade, an upgrade is free.

We would have turned it down also for that price. Like the other poster said, it would cover our excursions, drinks, photos, etc. :)

I got that same call yesterday. We have an ocean suite booked for next week, they called and offered to upgrade us for a substantial amount. No thanks. We splurged this trip to get an Ocean Suite.

 

 

Of course if they wanted to do it for free, because I am such a good guy...great. But I am sure I wouldn't have found out about that until I got to the port. They are trying to get all the money they can out of the cruise. Period.

Suites are very nice, but I would not upgrade for that price. Maybe half that.

They called me last week, from 8F balcony to ocean suite for $540 total on a 5 night cruise. I passed. They made it sound good though, room and balcony size comparison, priority boarding, ...

Nope, way too much....if they have vacancies they should fill them at a discount, not the published rate (could have booked it yourself if you had wanted to spend that much more $$). For us to accept an upsell, the offer would have to be a "deal"...we book far out and pick right where we want to be to begin with.
