Your favorite things about sailing with Carnival!

A little different

1)Warm Melting Chocolate Cake

2) Ships on a Stick

3)The itineraries and price.... we were looking at RC cruises for next May.... they are all practically all going to the same places, Jamaica, Haiti and some other random port. I don't care if I'm on the Oasis/Allure or on the Fantasy... it better be going somewhere I want to go and/or haven't been.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

That & just "getting away from it all":D

In no particular order:

!. Triple espresso after dinner.

2. 5 star meal at the steakhouse.

3. Pastrami sandwich (double meat, no grill) at the deli.

4. Bitter and blanc. (and pretty much all desserts)

5. Getting dressed up for dinner. (my wife looks so yummy)

6. Tandoori station.

7. Watching the sunrise while drinking my morning coffee.

8. No cell phone, computer, fax machine, answering machine.

9. The feel of the warm tropical air.

10. Banana bread on breakfast buffet.

11. Jazz music by the show band.

12. Sound of the ocean.

13. Rocking of the ship.

14. Bang for your buck.

Number 8!!! For me being "off the grid" is a huge plus. No internet package for me. That'd just be an excuse for my company to interrupt my vacation.

We finally caved to peer pressure and are venturing out to RCI next year. In researching an OV room on the Freedom, I see they are 159 sq ft!! REALLY?! Holy crap that's small!! So I would have to say that my favorite thing on Carnival, though I didn't realize this until I began to think outside the Carnival box is, not having closet sized staterooms! I could list a dozen others, but this one has surpassed them all. 159sq ft is what we were used to sailing in the 80s on ships that were about 20K tons! To have those on a ship 160K tons goes beyond my imagination!!

My favorite thing without a doubt is the smile my wife has the whole time... but the smile she had when I surprised her and told her I booked a cruise for our anniversary was priceless.

The staff really makes the whole experience... they work so hard! I enjoy that Carnival seems to keep things simple. We were laughing quite hard when we were getting back on the ship in Grand Turk next to a Princess ship and they had plastic palm trees lining the gangway and handing out hot towels. Really? Is that necessary when its 85° degrees outside? Not to mention you'll be in your cabin in like 5 minutes. Maybe we are just simple folks.

OP- love positive threads like this!

Often times, people are only motivated by the things that upset them to have a voice. I thought it would be great to have a thread filled with the reasons we all love cruising with Carnival!

I'll start!

1.) You can't beat the price for the value

2.) More often than not, they have the ports of call I want to visit on the ships I want to sail on.

3.) The staff almost always goes out of their way to talk to us and we have gotten to know some amazing crew members.

4.) I really love the adult scavenger hunt. It's always one of the highlights of the cruise for me.

5.) In my experience, the passengers on Carnival are more likely to become friends with strangers. We always leave with friends for life.

6.) They have awesome board games in the library! Haha.

7.) Looking up at the whale tail always makes me happy!

I don't know what else is Carnival specific for me.. I need to think more!

Just being away from the regular day to day routine.

In no particular order:

Value for your dollar

Sitting at the lobby bar enjoying a cocktail and listening to the musicians.

Dancing

No phones

No dishes to wash, beds to be made, washrooms cleaned, no cooking etc.

Carnival staff are always pleasant and hard working.

Carnival cruisers in general are a fun bunch and usually friendly.

Did I mention food..NO COOKING FOR A WEEK..just walk in and sit down and wait to be served!!

The only decisions I have to make each day is what to wear, what to eat, what activities to participate in, what to drink and to find a chair in the sun...it doesn't really get any better than this.

Oh ya, and John Heald..he's the best cruise director.

My last cruise was with NCL since Carnival didn't have the itinerary we wanted. Although we enjoyed ourselves, here is what we found ourselves missing about Carnival.

-lemonade 24/7

-free cappuccino in the MDR

-larger cabins

-WCMC

-juice included with the soda pass

-being allowed to bring on a bottle of wine for free

-serenity area hot tubs

-overall fun atmosphere

-public areas (NCL has way too much area devoted to pay restaurants so it really takes way from public areas)

-fixed dining times

-being able to see shows since they are scheduled around the dining times

-having the same wait staff nightly

(obviously I am not a fan of 'freestyle' dining)

1. You can bring one bottle of wine/champagne per adult at embarkation. I would consider going on RCL over Carnival sometime except RCL doesn't allow you to bring on wine/champagne.

2. The price. Although sometimes RCL's prices have been the same or even lower than Carnival's because of my number 1 answer I do not consider RCL.

3. The size of their inside room (I've only sailed on Fantasy class). Don't want anything smaller (like RCL's).

4. The food. I love the food in the MDR!

5. Waterworks slides. Love waterslides.

6. Casino. Even though ship casino's will be tight, it's still a must for me. Would never consider Disney because of no casino.

7. The "fun" atmosphere. I prefer fun over elegant.

8. Staff. So far both cruises on Carnival have had friendly, helpful staff.

First stepping into the atruim.....

The ocean, sky, and stars....

Complete relaxation on the crusie....

The freedom to enjoy my family and friends in different ports......

My entire family laughing and enjoying every minute together.....

Never once seeing DH's patients on our vacation......

My entire family together and no arguing about when and where to eat....

All of us dressing up and taking a lovely picture......

I could go on and on!!!

As much as I enjoyed the elegant atmosphere at HAL, I'm looking forward to the "fun" experience. This thread in general gives me something to look forward to. I may have to print this thread prior to boarding the Spirit. :)

I've always enjoyed the way the Lido (can never remember the different names between the cruise lines, they all mush together) area for lunch. The Taste of Nations, Asian area, deli and I love

the pizza. Never had goat cheese till I had it on Carnival...yum!

The staterooms are a reasonable size, and the beds are comfortable.

And, you really can't beat the price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I really enjoy the soft-serve ice cream machines, I visit them more times than I care to admit! :p

My husband liked them so much he thought he'd share them with our towel animal...

I am also a fan of the "ship on a stick", we now make it a mission to earn/win one on each cruise.

One of our family members won one last cruise and we turned it into a family traveling trophy for our card game prize! :)

Sorry..not to get off track..but you do a great job.

Haha.. you can hijack my thread to stroke my ego any time you like. :-) Thanks though! I have been doing photography full time, professionally, for about 5 years now. I mainly shoot weddings but recently have been shooting pin-up for a magazine that has hired us to do a few gigs. It's exciting and rewarding to get paid well to do what I love! :-)
