Constellation - onboard enterttainment arrangements

Retired civil servant

Recommended Posts

This is our first cruise on Constellation and would like to know from you experienced cruisers what the procedure is for attending the evening shows onboard.

Do you get tickets to the evening events or just turn up at the door and take your chances on getting a table?

Any tips on times the entertainment starts, best shows and general advice would help us get the best out of our cruise around the Southern Caribbean in early Feb next year.:)

Thanks in advance

Hello!

First of all, welcome to the Celebrity community;)

On any Celebrity ship, so including the Celebrity Constellation (or Connie for the friends) shows don't need any reservations. There are normally enough seats for anyone interested in the show to see the show thanks to the spacious layout of the ship and uncrowded atmosphere.

Most seats in the main showlounge are theatre style by the way, with cupholders for your drinks.

Showtimes are at 7PM and 9PM on most casual nights or at 20.45h.and 22.45h. on most formal nights.

Apart for the main shows, there is always a Jazz quarted/trio, a Party Band, a DJ, a Acapella group and Classical strings. Sometimes, there is a resident pianist (like Perry Grant, a favourite entertainer of many Connie fans) and shows are being accompanied by a live orchestra.

Hope this helps...

As stated -- no reservations necessary -- there will be some who will try to snag the "best" seats in the theater, but since everyone's idea of what is "best" is different, as some rush immediately to the front rows, and others linger in the back, you are nearly always assured of finding one to your liking --

If you have not already been to the Roll Call, take a look there, as there are many passengers who are Constellation regulars and can give good advice on your upcoming cruise.

The only place that we've ever found it difficult to get seats on the Constellation are:

1. There is occasionally a very unusual entertainer on board who plays in a small lounge called Micheal's club. His name is Perry Grant. Personally, I dislike his show and have never sat through it. But many others love it and most nights the lounge fills quickly and is sometimes standing room only. If he is on board and you see his show you'll understand why I say it is "unusual".

2. A couple times each cruise they have some sort of a small show in the Reflections nightclub lounge (deck 11 forward) that starts around 10PM or 10:30PM. For example they may have a program similar to "Dancing with the Stars" but which puts passengers together with ship's officers or entertainment staff personnel. They also have some theme parties up there such as a 50's night, which more recently they've had some of the ship's entertainers do skits at. While you can usually get a seat in the lounge, the seats with a good view of the dance floor/stage area fill up quickly on these nights - especially the ones on the non-smoking side of the lounge (this is the only indoor lounge where smoking is allowed on one side). On other nights this lounge is used as a dance venue with the ship's party band or a DJ (or both alternating) and seating is no issue on those nights.

We've never had issues getting seats for shows in the theater or the other lounges although it is occasionally difficult to get a large number of seats together if you are in a big group (say 8 to 12 or so). Celebrity does not issue tickets to any of the on board entertainment and theoretically saving seats is not allowed - but of course it happens all the time anyways.
