Solstice - Aft CC or 1A Hump? Also port or starboard

The Grand Princess will be going to Crown Bay. Carnival Corp ships tend to use that. Maybe the Glory also. I believe Carnival contributed $$$ to build that facility.

The other ships are also big. I can't see them tendering, especially the Epic which has the highest passenger count at over 4,000 as well as the Freedom.

The Magic, at 83,000 GRT is the smallest but with all the kids on board as 3/4s, has a high count of bodies.

<<edit>>

Bad news here Solstice pax.

From the official St. Thomas Website, here are the dock assignments in March for the days when the seven ships are in.

Wednesday 03/14/12

Carnival Glory WICO, St. Thomas

Disney Magic Anchorage, St. Thomas

Eurodam CB, St. Thomas

Freedom of the Seas WICO, St. Thomas

Grand Princess CB, St. Thomas

Norwegian Epic WICO, St. Thomas

Solstice Anchorage, St. Thomas

WICO (West Indian Co. ) is Havensight, CB is Crown Bay.......... and anchorage is tender time. Along with the Magic.:(

Thanks for all your comments. Have a great cruise Sloop-JohnB, and hope you enjoy St Thomas, it looks like it's going to be a busy day at that port/island with all those cruise ships docking.

I am learning that it doesn't matter which side of the ship you are on, and also if the ship is tendering to the port, both sides will have views of the ocean..... haha, but because I didn't really know much better previously, we were going on "knowledgable cruise specialist", one of which worked for Celebrity at a cruise exhibition which we attended in the UK.

I'll probably have more "daft" questions before we go in 2013, but thanks again for all your help on this one.

TO THE BIG BOOPER,

Thanks for all the great info (and taking the time to do some research)... it is much appreciated !!

That is indeed our configuration... so it looks like we have a good chance that Solstice will be tendering... which now in addition to close to 18,000 Cruisers being in St Thomas at the same time, might effect what I decide to do while there...

Thinking that a Cruise Ship Excursion might get me off the ship and AWAY from the crowds better than staying in town...

Of course the other alternative, is just to stay on board and enjoy the peace & quiet.

TO TEXMEX.FERR,

Thank you for your kind words... so looking forward to this our first cruise.

Time has gone super quickly these last 5 months... and yours will too.

Enjoy Cruise Critic and this the Celebrity Board... in the lead-up to your cruise... there are some great folks on here, and a ton of wonderful info.

I have learned OODLES since joining.

Hope to see you round the Boards...

:)

Cheers!

More then a good chance....it is definite. You will be anchored in the bay and tendering.

If you book a ship's excursion, usually you have priority tendering. Since this is your first cruise and first time in the Caribbean , go with the excursion from the ship.

I have spent 10+ years hanging out here....and have a fine collection of bookmarks to jump to in seconds.
