ticruiser12 Posted November 22, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2011 I am not a big reader but I am a big fan of Jimmy Buffetts books (Where is Joe Merchant, A Salty Piece of Land, etc...). Unfortunately I have read them all and have a cruise coming up in Feb. 2012. Anybody have any suggestions on similar books? Thanks!
youngestof9 Posted November 22, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 22, 2011 This is a fun book to read on a cruise. It was an easy read and fun http://www.amazon.com/Gonna-Live-Jimmy-Buffett-Island/dp/1461008867/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpt_1
ab0si Posted November 22, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2011 Certainly not the same thing, but also tilted off-center are Kinky Friedman's books: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=kinky+friedman&x=0&y=

FlaGrl4Evr Posted November 22, 2011 #7 Share Posted November 22, 2011 I am currently reading the Doc Ford series by Randy Wayne Wright. Doc Ford is a marine boiologist living in Sanibel Captiva, Fla. He is a retired NSA agent/marine biologist who lives at the local marina. The books are a great read full of lots of interesting characters and lots of Fla flair. Here is link to the series in reading order. http://www.thrillingdetective.com/ford.html James Hall is another great author who writes books that take place in the Fla Keys . FlaGrl4Evr Posted November 22, 2011 #8 Share Posted November 22, 2011 You may also like the Max Freeman series by Jonathon King. The books take place in Miami and the Fla Everglades. It too is an excellent series. http://www.jonathonking.com/blue.php .
05mak05 Posted November 23, 2011 #9 Share Posted November 23, 2011 I stumble across the best info on this website. I meant to buy the Jimmy Buffet books years ago and never did so. Thanks for the tip.

DukeFamily Posted December 3, 2011 #13 Share Posted December 3, 2011 Did you read Buffett's "A Pirate Looks at Fifty"? That battered paperback is one of the few must pack items whenever I cruise! I just love the stories in that one. (The only other MUST pack? "Remember the Titans"! Don't ask me why; it's just a family favorite DVD and the boys and I fall asleep to it every night on a cruise! Weird, huh?!)
Peace2U Posted December 3, 2011 #14 Share Posted December 3, 2011 Try any of the books by Robert Tacoma. His books are set in Key West and are about the quirky adventures of "Taco Bob."
