The Viking Posted December 7, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2011 We initially thought of taking a cruise out of Colon but are now thinking of NOT taking the cruise but stay at the Balboa Rainforest resort and a downtown hotel instead of. This way we will have plenty of time to cisit the canel, rainforest and relax in downtown Panama City. FF miles to go to Panama is cheaper than for a domestic trip. Do anyone have a menu or remember food prices for the Gamboa Resort? We do not know if we should book the best promotional rate or the all inclusive. Thank you very much
Idahobaker Posted December 7, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2011 This is what I found in reading Moon's travel site. "The food at the resort is hit or miss. Of the three restaurants, Restaurante Los Lagartos (tel. 276-6812, 11:30 a.m.–5 p.m. daily) is the best option because of its terrific location. It’s down the hill from the main hotel, built onto an attractive, open-walled wooden terrace that juts into the Río Chagres near where it empties into Lago Gatún. From their tables diners can sometimes see turtles, caimans, and the odd iguana sunbathing on the same log, peacock bass and tilapia nosing about in the shallows, and little blue herons and jacanas hunting for food among the floating vegetation. Even here the food tends to be mediocre, but the show put on by nature is exceptional."
