scubagirrl Posted December 14, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2011 Will be in bahams this jan and would like any info on this. Will it be to cold to swim? Also read on some other posts that there was a bug problem. I've done it many times. January can be cool, but the water is shallow and you can get in for a short period. As for bugs.. that was quite some time ago and has been cleared up.. besides..it's winter... even in the bahamas. You won't be pestered by bugs. http://www.stingrayadventure.com/

scubagirrl Posted December 15, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 15, 2011 Thanks for the info. We have done the stingrays in grand cayman so hope this one will be as good Stingrays are penned in and you enter from the beach. Not like Stingray city at all. A very different type of activity. The Grumpus Posted December 15, 2011 #5 Share Posted December 15, 2011 I'd take a tour of Stingway City over Blackbeard's stingrays anyday but isn't not bad at Blackbeards. We had a good time and definitely worth the price. There are plenty of stingray to swim with and much safer without the barbs. It's worth going and we didn't notice any bugs on the beach. Have fun! The ocean surface temp is currently 78 but is normally closer to 75 in mid-January. Bahamas are supposed to have a warmer than average winter this year, so you got going for you!:) Blackbeard's Cay:
SFNC cruising Posted December 16, 2011 #6 Share Posted December 16, 2011 We have done both Blackbeards in Nassau and Sting Ray city in Grand Cayman. I recomment Blackbeards for the 1st timer. We had a great time.:)
nybumpkin Posted December 17, 2011 #7 Share Posted December 17, 2011 We've done both Blackbeard's and Stingray City. Blackbeard's was great for our two younger sons who (at the time) weren't strong swimmers. They were able to interact with the stingrays easily, while at Stingray City the water was too rough for them.
