chicail16 Posted December 20, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2011 Trying to decide if I should pack my sandals for Sydney stay in early-mid Janaury, 2012? Doesn't seem to be sandal weather. Please advise. Thanks
bobhsv Posted December 20, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2011 I am in sandals now, and Jan is usually hotter. We have been having weird weather lately, with quite a bit of rain and a few cool nights. Jan, Feb, Mar are hotter than Dec. Our thongs are quite cheap to buy over here (the foot variety...lol), so that is also an option. You will still need sandshoes if doing lots of walking, or in case it is wet. cjm66 Posted December 20, 2011 #3 Share Posted December 20, 2011 I find sandals and Sydney streets, especially if you are doing a lot of walking are not a good match - dusty if dry and we do get sudden rain showers in January - more are predicted for this summer. Canvas or otherwise flexible walking shoes are a better bet. Colleen
Globaliser Posted December 20, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 20, 2011 I'd always take sandals for a Jan trip to Sydney. Other shoes, too, but it's the time of the year that's most likely to call for sandals.

Would it be vrey crowded over the weekend or should we wait to go after the weekend?
bobhsv Posted December 21, 2011 #7 Share Posted December 21, 2011 Feb/March are traditionally our hottest months, so yes it will be warm. It is also the height of our bushfire season. As for rain, probably not, but our weather has been odd here lately. The mountains should be less crowded at this time as it is not during school holidays, ie week days or weekends are fine. You will totally enjoy seeing this area.
