fallen3825 Posted December 22, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2011 5 of my friends and I are going on the 5 day cruise in February on the Carnival Fascination. I have never been on this boat before, and the Carnival site is vague about its features. Any tid-bits that would be useful or interesting to know. ALSO, the main question is, WILL WE BE ABLE TO WATCH THE SUPERBOWL???? My boyfriend is a crazy football fanatic and I'm not. I booked the cruise without remembering the superbowl. So will there be a place to watch it, or a party?? Thanks you so much!
scgamecock Posted December 22, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2011 The Superbowl will be broadcast by NBC this year, so - yes it will be available on the ship. I was on Fascination last week and there was a big TV outside of the comedy club where a large crowd was watching an NFL game. (They were making so much noise, it was drowning out the comedian. lol.) Here's a useful tip if you like spending time on the Serenity Deck: There is a staircase that goes from the very aft of the Empress deck directly up to Serenity Deck. fallen3825 Posted December 22, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted December 22, 2011 Awesome thanks for the information! Anything else about this boat that makes it awesome?
gatorgirlcruiser Posted December 22, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 22, 2011 If you plan on eating in the MDR make sure you are in Joseph's dining room. He is the maitre'd and is an absolute nut, but he makes dinner so much fun with his "show time".
scgamecock Posted December 22, 2011 #5 Share Posted December 22, 2011 Awesome thanks for the information! Anything else about this boat that makes it awesome? The staff is great. Make sure you get assigned to the Imagination Dining Room. Joseph, the maitre d is the best. Jen is a great cruise director and they put on good shows. Svetlana, the Lobby Bartender makes a perfect bloody mary. I enjoyed them every morning. Fascination is a smaller ship, but felt much less crowded than the larger ships. Never waited in line for anything.
fallen3825 Posted December 22, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted December 22, 2011 OK sounds good, How do I make it to where we are in that dining room? I'm new to booking the cruise and organizing. My mom planned the last one LOL:D
gatorgirlcruiser Posted December 22, 2011 #7 Share Posted December 22, 2011 When you board the ship you can visit the MDR and speak with the maitre'd about your seating arrangement. It is usually around 1:00pm when the maitre'ds handle seating arrangements, but grab a copy of the Fun Times by the Guest Services desk and the information should be listed in there, and if not you can definitely ask someone at the Guest Services desk. Joseph isn't always in the same dining room (he was in the Sensation dining room when I last saw him), so it is best to just say you'd like to be in his dining room! Hope this helps :D
fallen3825 Posted December 22, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted December 22, 2011 We will definitely try to do this. I don't know how willing they will be to re-seat a group of 5! Thanks everyone for the replies!
gatorgirlcruiser Posted December 22, 2011 #9 Share Posted December 22, 2011 Here is a little preview of Joseph: Not my video but I can't stop watching it now that I'll be seeing him in 16 days!! :D
PictureChris Posted December 22, 2011 #10 Share Posted December 22, 2011 The Super Bowl will be shown in the main theater on a huge projection screen. They will set up finger food on both sides inside the doors. Joseph "the super charged" mater d (spelling ?) is the best.
fallen3825 Posted December 22, 2011 Author #11 Share Posted December 22, 2011 This says he is on the Liberty? How will we know if he is on the Fascination?
gatorgirlcruiser Posted December 22, 2011 #12 Share Posted December 22, 2011 That is an old video, he was on Liberty in 2010 I believe but he just got back on the Fascination in late October so there is a very good chance he'll still be on in February, as they usually work 6 months straight on the same ship. SE NC Posted December 22, 2011 #15 Share Posted December 22, 2011 The bride and I will be on this cruise. We also sailed her this past July. After sailing nothing but bigger ships, I was concerned if we would like the smaller class ship. Well....we loved the Fascination!:p My DS and BIL will be with us and it's their first cruise! Yes indeed...the Super Bowl will be a big event although my beloved Panthers won't be playing! There is a roll call for this cruise on the roll call site. A "meet & greet" is in the planing process. Please join us on the roll call!:D
ready2cruzagain Posted December 22, 2011 #16 Share Posted December 22, 2011 We just did a b2b on the Fascination and LOVED it! I agree with everyone else...Joseph the maitre'd is the bomb!! I have never even remembered the maitre'd on any other cruise but will not be forgetting Joseph anytime soon. We liked the Starz bar outside of the casino. They have a band playing there in the evenings and it is fun to listen to the music and people watch. The crew on the Fascination was GREAT! Never seen a better crew. Jen was a great CD...very personable. Hope you have a great time!
rdh rules Posted February 2, 2012 #17 Share Posted February 2, 2012 I have a question about the serenity. I understand you do not have to pay for it, is that correct? How crowded is it? ON our last Princess, we tried to get into the Santuary and it was booked for the whole cruise, even though only a couple of people were there. But they wouldn't let you in, unless you had already paid/booked. Thanks
