Allure pictures to go with my review

I sailed on the Allure of the Seas from 12/4/11 through 12/11/11. I wrote a review for this site and it can be found here:

http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=93811

I will try and post some pictures here to highlight some of what was in my review. To summarize the review, I thought the ship was amazing, but the cruise itself was too Disney World like for me. Was a fun trip, however not a restful one. I did not like the ports of call. We did the Western trip and getting off the ship was really a waste of time. I felt there were way too many people on this ship and crowd control was a problem. More details are in my review, now for some pictures. All of the pictures I took can be found on my webshots album which can be found in my signature.

We were in a Junior Suite cabin 10626. The cabin was very comfortable. We especially liked the walk in closet. The extra space over a balcony cabin was well worth the money as far as I am concerned.

Here are some pictures from around the ship inside. I loved Central Park, even though it is really outside. I thought the Promenade area was nice, however the shopping was too much and it made it appear like nothing more than going to the mall. The Christmas decorations were very nice, however I saw no decorations for Channukkah.

I find it odd that at this point 552 people have viewed my pictures but only 1 person has commented. I can only come to the conclusion that nobody is really interested. I have several more to post but I am not going to bother if they are of no interest to this group.

Howard- love your photos, both to relive my recent Oasis trip and to get excited about Allure in 2013. Couple of things...where is everyone in your photos? My DH took photos around 3 pm on a sea day and also has no people in them! Second thing, where is the dog house on Allure, is it just before you get to the outside (where the donut place is on Oasis) . I know Ritas is where the Seafood Shack is.

Third thing, on Oasis we saw a menorah at Guest services and a larger one on the promenade, as well as Happy Hanukkah signs in a few places. I didn't notice the big snowflakes hanging from the glass pavilions onto the promenade in your photos. These were very pretty on Oasis and they were visible on central park too...they made a nice backdrop for photo sitting in the park. Did they have them on Allure?

Do keep the photos coming...some people are just shy;)

I think so many of us are still recovering from Christmas. Your photos are great and so is the review so PLEASE keep them coming.

A few questions.

Did you ever find a good time to eat breakfast in the main dining room?

Do we really need to get to the shows 45 minutes in advance (with reservations)?

Were the pools and jacuzzis crowded?

We have a first time cruiser coming with us (mid 50's). Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks so much!

Please continue. Your shots are fantastic. I am shopping for a new camera to take on my May Allure cruise. What model did you use for your photos? I was also wondering where everyone is in all your shots. It doesn't look crowded at all but you commented about it so I know I am missing something. Thank you for taking the time to post!!!!

Many of my pictures were taken very early in the morning when many people were sleeping. The dog house is located on the boardwalk just after entering across from the donuts. By the way the donuts were really good! The big snowflakes were there. Looking at some of my pictures they are not there, but they were put up during the week. I posted a picture below with them. One of the staff members mentioned to us that they were electrical and would be lit up, but not on our sailing.

I have a Nikon D300 with a Nikon 18-200mm lens. I also used a nikon circular polarized filter on many of the outside pictures. I will be posting some of my sunset pictures soon. Like I said in my previous post i took many pictures early in the morning before most people woke up. I try not to have crowds of people in my pictures. It was plenty crowded once the masses woke up!

Here are your answers:

No, the dining room was crowded unless you like to eat when they first open, but there are lines then also.

Yes, get to shows early and make sure you have them reserved before you go.

I did not go into the pools or hot tubs. They are crowded at times and not at others.

A first time cruiser is going to think this ship is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Best advice I have is to not tell him what cruising used to be like. Second best advice is to just enjoy it and have fun. Find what you like to do or don't like to do and do it!

Have a good time!

Hi Howard,

we spoke on the roll call, i was on this sailing and the following week. The flowrider shot, was that taken around 8am on the monday morning? As i am pretty sure that is my fiance on the flowrider, if not he had a double on the body board!
