Epic vs Dawn

Recommended Posts

We have sailed on the Epic and absolutely loved the cruise. We want to go on a cruise in November 2012 for our anniversary. The dilemma is we want to take our kids, 3 and 6 and my mother in law. We can save considerably a lot if we go on the Dawn but will we be as entertained? My husband and I loved going to O'Sheehan's and watching the big screen and the entertainment at night down in the atrium, plus Howl at the Moon. We didn't go to the big shows except for BMG. We are really wanting to have some adult time but a lot of family time as well. So what do you think? Would we be happy on the Dawn?

We sailed on the Epic in March 2011 and also loved it. Howl at the Moon was the best entertainment.........we are sailing on the Dawn in February 2012 so will be able to answer from our perspective but we would also be interested to hear anyone else's views.....

DH and myself have cruised on Dawn three times and Epic twice. Dawn is a wonderful ship but Epic is in another stratosphere, especially for her entertainment.

There really is no comparison of the two ships with the exception of the restaurants. Epic has O'Sheehan's and Dawn has Blue Lagoon. Without a doubt, O'Sheehan's is my choice for a 24 hour eatery. The atmosphere alone makes O'Sheehan's my choice for a late night snack. Blue Lagoon and O'Sheehan's have a different menu but basically, both cater to comfort foods.

Epic, besides being a much larger ship, has the great water park with the water slides that Dawn can not compete with. Dawn does not have an adults only area like Epic's Spice H2O.

That is just a few differences.

epic is one of a kind.

dawn is a nice ship, but if you spend your cruise comparing her features to epic's you risk disappointment. dawn has bigger rooms, including the family suites, which may many parents of little ones appreciate. there are also insides across the hall, if you are booking 2 cabins. Dawn has eateries and entertainment, but quite different from epic. Dawn is a good choice for a family cruise if you like her for herself and forget any epic comparisons.
