New to NCL--Any Help??

Recommended Posts

We"ve done many cruises, but are new to NCL. We've just booked a Penthouse (9202) for the April 2005 Transatlantic.

Couple of questions--Hope someone can help--

Do the penthouse cabins have any balcony?
If not, will we REALLY miss a balcony on an April Transatlantic?

We are a 60ish couple--is this a Good cruise choice for us?

Thanks for any advice/input.

Hi Barb. Welcome to the NCL board. First off...what ship are you talking about? Is it the Dream? If yes, deck 9 doesn't have any balconies. I've stayed in 9208 three times (a few cabins away from 9202). I did two transatlantic cruises (one in April and the other in October) and didn't really miss the balcony. But if you're the kind of people that like to sit out there and just watch the water go by...you might miss it.

Also, 9202 has a forward facing window only and there is deck space in front of the window so at times there may be people in front of your window obstructing your view. I don't say that to turn you off of the suite because it does have some good perks. I just want you to know some details.

Lastly, not knowing you personally I can't say if this is a good choice for you but I was 30 when I did the two transatlantic cruises and I loved it. I loved the lazy relaxing days of reading a good book or playing trivia or sitting out on deck getting some fresh air. Those sea days are slow and easy. If you like that kind of thing, I'd say it's a good choice for you.

WElcome, I can't tell you about the balcony but can assure you NCL is a great line for people of all ages. One of the reasons we cruise NCL so much is the variety of age groups.

Thanks for the information. Yes Cecilia, I am talking about the Dream. We love quiet days of reading and playing cards, so I suspect this will be perfect for us. Hope we will be ok without the balcony; however, because we usually enjoy one. (I thought that on such a long cruise, with so many sea days, we would prefer the larger cabin.)

Are there any perks with the penthouse suites? As I mentioned, this will be our first trip with NCL.

Thanks again!
