Post cruise tour from port to FCO any recommendations.

Our flight from Rome is not till 7pm so our group is thinking of doing a private tour to fill in the day. We are in Rome 4 days before cruise so will not want to do Rome.

 

Has anyone any recommendations on what we could do and a tour company.

Just read down the board. A full day Rome tour is awesome. For venders, there are many- one, Rome in Limo- has a thread with over 1400 positive comments. That is hard to beat.

We are also leaving Rome around the same time. We were planning on taking the ships excursion that goes from the ship on a tour of St. Peters and the Coliseum and drops us off around 5 or so at the airport.

 

We have also been to Rome many times, but never tire of seeing the Coliseum. If you uncover something good and want someone to share in the cost, please let me know as we haven't booked anything yet.

With a car and driver you could spend the day at Tivoli, which has both Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este, as well as a small historical center with restaurants and shops.

 

Other possibilities that come to mind are the museum of civilization at the EUR, or the Appian way and the catacombs.

Another thought - if you think you might be up for some physical activity hiking around Lake Bracciano would be a nice day, with a long leisurely lunch in town.

Thanks euro cruiser. Have made a few enquiries and think we are going to use Romeoin limo and do some sightseeing in Tivoli.
