Hotel Amenities for beach day..

We have an entire day to spend in Honolulu. :p Just wondering if anyone knows of a beach front hotel that you could purchase a wrist band or something so that we would be able to use their facilites, lounge chairs, bar :D, etc? I know that you can do this in Mexico, but not too sure of Honolulu. Any idea as to cost also? Thanks for any info!!

All beaches are public in Hawaii, so no hotel owns the beach in front of their property.

 

They will have areas behind the public beach where chairs, umbrellas, etc may be set up. These will be set back some distance, but not that far away.

 

Haven't heard of day use rates, but others may know.

I know Hilton Hawaiian Village offers the use of a room for a day.

That's very rare in Hawaii. Once in a while, the larger (and usually more expensive) hotels will offer day rates. They can be pretty pricy when available. For example, the Grand Wailea on Maui used to offer day rates sometimes, but they ran about $200-$300 for a family of four.

 

All the beaches themselves are public, so no worries there. Hotels must allow public access to the beaches, but are not required to (and very rarely do) allow non-guests to use any facilities.

 

Of course, all are welcome to buy drinks and food at the hotels, but that does not get you access to the hotel facilities such as pools, spa, and such. (Note: It is illegal to have alcohol on the public beaches in Hawaii.) The larger tourist beaches faced with hotels and resorts usually have umbrella, chair, and sometimes equipment rental kiosks for the public. Some hotels also have kiosks and will allow non-guests to rent umbrellas, chairs, etc. during quieter times. Many larger hotels and resorts have lounge and umbrella areas set up at the top of the beaches above the public access "line." Those are for hotel guests only.

 

It's easy to have a great beach day in Hawaii.:)

You could also purchase an inexpensive chair at one of the many ABC Stores and throw it away after the day
