MIB Invites

MIB=Message in Bottle

I ordered mine from an online company (http://www.bottlemeamessage.com).

Those who've used them before, or are planning to use them now.

Did you include a response card with your mailing?

Did you mail just the bottle or was it in the box?

I'm doing my MIB myself, as everything I found has that "wedding tax" on it.

I also wanted a completely unique looking invitation.

I purchased my paper from lcipaper.com, just because I wanted legal size. It's nice.

I'm going to get my bottles and all other supplies from sandartsupplies.com

So for about 65 MIB's with 12 being glass, it'll be a little over 150.

I'll be mailing the plastic bottle directly in the mail (no box), but the 12 glass I'll need a box.

The plastic bottles are cheaper to mail, but both do have a high cost for postage cause of the sand weight

Does anyone have a picture of the bottles right before mailing? I'm wondering how they mark postage on the bottle. This is such a cute idea for invites!

I'm sorry, considering how the post office throws the mail around, I had to laugh at this.

You mail the glass bottles in a box and the postage goes on the box!

I totally understand! That's actually why I thought it was neat that you could possibly send a bottle shaped object in the mail. The postage probably screws up the appearance anyway. I get that glass bottles need to go in boxes but it sounds like (from this thread) that you can mail plastic ones straight.

according to the bottlemeamessage.com the plastic ones CAN be shipped without a box.

If anyone has any extras of the plastic ones that can be shipped without a box I would be interested. I would love to send these as a thank you note for my sailing guests but I only need 3 and their minimum purchase is 12.

http://www.sandartsupplies.com/ has the bottles for .89 each.

I've seen other websites that have MIBs that allow you to get any quantity.

I agree; putting postage and a mailing label on a bottle would affect the appearance. I still wouldn't trust the PO to deliver it in one piece.
