Emerald Princess

She is the new ships name (sister to crown). Is the crown like the caribbean or Star?

Here is the PR for the Crown:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=148419&highlight=crown+princess

As you can read, Princess are assembling a mixture of what they believe to be the best features from other ships and put it into one package.

I haven't heard anything about the Emerald and can't find any PR? Is this the ship which was rumoured to be called the Californian Princess?

Any links to official info would be much appreciated.

From Maritime Matters:

6131 Named

April 13: Italy's Fincantieri yard no. 6131 in Monfalcone, was officially named EMERALD PRINCESS April 12. The new cruise ship is an identical sister to CROWN PRINCESS. Reports have it that the third vessel in the series will go to P&O and will be named CANBERRA.

I think name Emerald Princess fits right in with the Princess fleet, but naming a mega-ship Canberra?

What a mistake. The original Canberra was a lovely ship, running mate of the late great Oriana. Canberra used to make the world trips - the new is too big for the Panama Canal - hence not suited for that trade.

Obviously, I am not a fan of the mega-ships. Were I King of Princess, I would build a fleet of 50,000GRT ships, 1000 PAX.
