Casino questions re: Spirit

I've sailed NCL twice, but this time we are taking my cousin and her husband, so they have some newbie questions that I can't answer.

I'm not a gambler so I don't frequent the casinos, but they were asking if there are "free" drinks in the casino, as there are in the casinos in Las Vegas.

The other question they had was about coffee. Can you get it free in the lounges, or just in the restaurants and buffet? I can't believe I don't know the answer to that one!

Thanks for your help! This board is so informative and fun to read.

Drinks are not free in the casino normally.

You can get coffee for free various places including the casino sometimes, and even in some of the lounges... although it is a little hard to find in lounges. (This does not include specialty coffees of course). Check your freestyle daily for the Spirit and you can find the 24 hour coffee locations :)

Unlike land-based casinos, free drinks in the casino are hard to come by on most cruise ships (at least the ones I've been on). However, NCL is more liberal than most but still falls short of the free-flowing ways on land. Giving out free drinks is at the discretion of the pit bosses. My experience on NCL is that if you're a regular in the casino and the pit boss gets to recognize you, you might be offered a free drink. It's even more likely that you'll get a free drink if you're playing at a $25 table or you're consistently a high roller. It's by no means generally available.

Unfortunately, NO, you have to use your sign-n-sail card in the casino to purchase drinks.

Once or twice, I asked the pit boss to let me have a drink on the house, and he gave in, but only because I asked and probably only because I was there every single night. My husband played Texas Hold Em the entire week with the same guys and the house only gave them a round ONE time the entire week!!!

But the good news for your cousin and her husband is that the SPIRIT Casino was very good to everyone the week we were on her. I saw passengers hitting jackpots on lots of the machines. I did really well at the 3 Card Poker Table.

If your cousins are table players, tell them to get Amber as their dealer if the can because she was the best...

After about 10 or 11 each night, on the 3rd level in the back of the casino, where the guys were playing Texas Hold Em, they did set-up a little buffet of food, which included coffee and tea. Also, on the bottom level, where most of the gaming tables plus some slot machines are, they also set-up a table with coffe and tea.

Elaine :)
