dons_shopper Posted January 21, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2012 I had asked before about cruising with this disease. Thank you for your answers. But now I am asking because I would love to watch the whales at Samana and read that they advise to take Dramamine anyway. Is it that bad? This scares me -don't want to force a Meniere attack. Help appreciated.
cb at sea Posted January 21, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2012 You'll be in a MUCH smaller vessel while whale watching than the cruiseship's size! The smaller the boat, the more you'll feel the motion! How bad it is will depend on the seas on the specific day/time you go!
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 21, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2012 I have a bad back -- spinal stenosis - and was warned by some here that the waters can be rough and that the boat you go out on is small. I have done whale watching in Alaska -- but on much larger boats and we did have some motion - but thankfully not enough to affect my back. curlymason Posted January 21, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2012 I have Meniere's as well. Strangely I seem to have little to no motion issues on the ship or on smaller boats as long as I take an antivert (meclizine) once a day. My problem is always getting my land legs back after we get home!
