poma Posted January 24, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2012 We are planning on doing 3 nights in Barcelona before our Mediterranean cruise in September. We are a group of 4 and I have been looking at apartment rentals on the Home Away website. Can anyone recommend what part of the city is a good area to stay in? I am looking for an area that is safe and convenient to all the tourist sights. Is Playa Cataluna a convenient area? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Lorrie

4774Papa Posted January 25, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2012 The closer to Plaça de Catalunya, the more expensive. We stayed in the Hotel Astoria that I found on Venere.com. It is a 5 minute walk from the Diagonal Metro. Cost 69E per night for a very good three star.
riffatsea Posted January 25, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2012 I would add that anywhere above Placa Catalunya is in the neighborhood called the Eixample( ay-shom-pluh) and is a fine ,upscale, central area!
