Won a Cruise, but I have some questions??

Recommended Posts

Has anyone won a cruise from RCCL itelf? I won the slot tourney aboard the Oasis. The prize was a free 5 night cruise on the Liberty Dec. 3 2012. Another part of the prize was an entry into the Grand Slot Tourney, has anyone ever participated in that? I know I will have to pay my own airfare and port charges etc. I was told I will have an Ocean View cabin...will it be a balcony or are their ocean views with just portholes? Can I upgrade my cabin for the standard increase listed on the RCCL site? Any recommendations for cabin location if i can choose my own? I assume gratuities are not included? I've read some reviews indicating that getting on and off of the ship was a nightmare, was this true in your experience? If so, any tips for making it less of a nightmare? Any other tips would be appreciated! Thanks!

You should call RCL to ask these questions only they have the definate answer to your questions.

LOL, I intend to do that..but i doubt they will tell me the answers to some of my questions, particularly the one about getting on and off of the ship being a nightmare..;) but thanks.

Nothing like a free cruise.

We were on this years Liberty slot winners cruise (we did not win) we paid for ourselves but since I spent a lot of time in the casino, I got to observe the tournament.

They held daytime qualifying rounds all week with each round winner getting some decent cash (at least a couple of hundred bucks)

There were plenty of staff organizing things and there large screen TV's letting all the players know were they were towards making the finals. The total payout on the final round was $54,000 split between the top final round players. I thing the big winner walked away with over $10,000 CASH.

Everyone seemed to have a great time.

I won a free cruise (for 2) on the Navigator in slot tournament on the Navigator a few years ago. The cabin was an ocean view on deck 2 (forward) which I was able to upgrade to a balcony cabin. The cost was more than I had anticipated & with the added the upgrade it wasn't that much less than if I had just booked the cruise on my own.

Mine was a 5 night & we stayed onboard for the next 2 cruises making it a nice two week vacation. For what it cost, if we couldn't have extended the trip, it wouldn't have been worth it to us.

thanks! are you saying that if you hadnt extended the 5 nights wouldnt have seemed worth it? I have never done a cruise less than 7 nights, so i am curious about that. as i said, i do have to pay my own airfare and port charges etc. its still a free cruise though, so i can hardly complain..LOL maybe i'll think about doing at least one more with it

For us, with airfare from Boston, hotel (we always go in the day before), meals, & transfers it wouldn't have been worth it. It turns into a lot of money for a "free" cruise.

ok, gotcha. airfare from pittsburgh into too bad, but i will have to go the night before to get the cheapest non stop flight, so there goes that savings. thanks.
