wassup4565 Posted August 27, 2012 #101 Share Posted August 27, 2012 First cruise I went on I got the impression there was a lot of door-decorating - not so. But because I was new, I brought along a small fridge magnet picture of my favourite hockey player so I'd fit in. Turned out I really liked having this small marker on my door because all the doors looked alike all down the long corridor. Easy to find my little home away from home. Harry and Lucille Posted August 27, 2012 #102 Share Posted August 27, 2012 I usually decorate. I just let the ship know that the day after we sail, we are celebrating a birthday and anniversary the same day. After a nite in the casino, all I have to do is get to the right deck, the right side of the ship, turn right or left and in my inebriated state, bounce down the walls till I come to a door with 6 balloons floating above it. If the key works, I'm home.;)
mamajules Posted September 9, 2012 #103 Share Posted September 9, 2012 Anyone know the approx measurements of the doors on Carnival (Legend)? Our roll call is doing a door decorating contest (halloween cruise) and we are using butcher paper to do a design on. Thanks! SPacificbound Posted September 9, 2012 #107 Share Posted September 9, 2012 I plan to decorate my cabin door on my Monarch cruise this coming Monday with photos of my Retired Racing Greyhounds. Why you ask? Two reasons. 1) I am taking my visually impaired Mother In Law on this cruise for her birthday. She has no central vision, but has peripheral sight. Instead of struggling to find our cabin, she will no trouble at all now. Best part is that she will not even realize that I have done this for her. 2) I promote Greyhound adoption whenever I can! Greyt idea! :) We are retired greyhound adopters also (almost 19 years).

Doglovertoo Posted September 11, 2012 #112 Share Posted September 11, 2012 Just got back from AK cruise on Holland America's Oosterdam. There weren't any door signs and the doors were not metal so nothing magnetic would work anyway.
glomarrone Posted September 12, 2012 #113 Share Posted September 12, 2012 Hi, I made mine on the Vista Prints site. It is magnatic. But even if the doors are not magnetic, I will use Scotch Removable Mounting Squares as I did on the Oasis for my paper sign. My design is no longer up however& it is too personalized for you to use. Sorry that I can't help you out more. What you really need to start with is a very sharp photo of the ship. The site will guide you step by step from there. lilchief27 Posted September 14, 2012 #114 Share Posted September 14, 2012 Interesting. And do you also do the same at hotels, motels and resorts? Hank Yes, actually every year we create door signs for our church group when we attend a national convention. We do something cute but no names that identifies our individual members. We stay at a very nice hotel & convention center & all the groups do this. Personally when we go to Disney we do this too. It helps the kids find the room & not beat on the wrong door  when we return late in the evening. BUT I do not believe I will be doing this on my cruise in 2 weeks. I may change my mind the 1st time one of my kids knocks on the wrong door. It always happens.
Diggerof4 Posted September 14, 2012 #115 Share Posted September 14, 2012 Hey Lisa ( Cigarspouse). Wouldn't it be a hoot if we were on the same cruise. Go Vikes. Just use your Brett Frave stuff, then again you may not want to ....... giggle. Hey Congrats on the win. They are looking good this year. So are the Vikings. Was worried, thought maybe they were going to move to CA. What ever do - have fun doing it and don't feel guilty. Happy Cruising!

Digger- it would be a blast to have side by side cabins to display our team pride! The NFC North would not be the same without the Vikes.... we were actually lucky enough to be at last night's Bear's game and will be in Viking territory for the game on 12/30...will no doubt be a great game. Happy Cruising to you also!
pj1973 Posted September 15, 2012 #117 Share Posted September 15, 2012 I have some magnetic dry erase boards and also picked up a few packages of magnetic letters. It's nice to get back to the room and see what messages people have spelled out for me. I'm on a cruise with about 500 other "friends" so it's going to be a fun trip. I also use magnetic clips in my room to hold onto my lanyard so that I'm not looking for it each morning.
mamajules Posted October 22, 2012 #118 Share Posted October 22, 2012 22"W x 6'8"H Is it just me or does this seem a little narrow? I know the doors arent very wide but my closet door is 24" wide. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2 Unfortunately, that sounds about right for the width of the door, but you need to subtract about 2 inches to allow for the frame. That's one of the reasons people using wheelchairs or scooters can't stay in regular rooms, the doorway at 19 to 20 inches is too narrow for them to get through. yokeagan Posted December 3, 2012 #123 Share Posted December 3, 2012 Hmmm.. There's always someone who will rain on the parade. Go ahead and decorate your door-- you can buy printable magnetic sheets that you can run through your printer-- that way you can create your own signs. Just make sure you don't use anything that will permanently damage the door and you should be fine.
