imgagesmom Posted January 26, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2012 I bought a bridal bargain's book to try to save some money on my upcoming wedding. I about died when I saw these prices!! I hope this saves some people some $ Cheaper than renting in most cases! http://www.myowntuxedo.com/ http://www.etuxedo.com/ http://www.cheaptux.com/
cb at sea Posted January 26, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2012 Oh, yeah...buying a tux is much cheaper than renting, if you'll wear it more than once...and odds are, you will! Hubby's worn his many times over the years.
lel5344 Posted January 26, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 26, 2012 Yes, buying your own tux can be cheaper in the long run (and certainly get something of better quality than a shipboard rental tux), but consider... You also must buy shirts, tie and cummerbund (or vest), studs and cufflinks, braces, (probably) shoes and socks. You also have to pay the dry cleaning and laundry bills. You also have to get the above into your luggage (and perhaps pay for extra weight or an extra suitcase). And you may have to arrange to have the tux pressed (depending on how well it travels) upon unpacking. And what if your size changes (for better or for worse)? Pretty much none of the above when you rent. Currently, we cruise once or twice a year, and, IMHO, it's just easier to rent. BTW, I am a former employee of Jos. A. Bank, and I had many opportunities to puchase a tux at a deeply discounted price and never did so.
David V Posted January 29, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2012 I have one pair of trousers and 3 jackets (a SB peaked lapel, a DB shawl and a SB Shawl in off white.) All purchased off e-bay for less than retail prices for 1 tux.
