Costa Concordia SINKING!

I too believe this( the email between the captains) to be the LIKELY cause. The point that I'm trying to make is not to jump to conclusions about Domnica. I feel that she has been unfairly judged.

I shall now retire to put on my double-layer flame retardant suit.

If you go back and read through this thread, you will note that you are by no means the first to come up with this view. So no need to worry about any flame retardant suits - your argument is nothing new.

Okay my fellow cruise experts, I have just seen the psychologist and he thinks I should try to get ON a cruise ship again sooner rather than later. So the above is a link to cruise ships in the Port of Melbourne ( where I live) could people please look at the ones staying late in the evening or weekends starting from the last weekend in Feb and tell me which are owned by Carnival who own Costa and are similar in size etc to the Concordia so I can ask Carnival nicely if I can go visit.

Thanks

I don't think it matters what ship Michelle gets on.......small or large.

She did not experiece a row boat sinking....but given a HAL ship....it will work.

And, I'm sorry........but who gives a d'm who owns the ships, Michelle just needs to get back aboard, as her doctor has mentioned.

Good greef, lucy.........give the lady a chance!!:)

Rick

She does - that is who. I answered her question. Why do you have a problem with that?

Been watching things at the port this morning. Been busy, even caused the ferry to get in 8 minutes late. Several small boats were around the ship and just now it looked like the Smit rig slipped into its usual place next to it.

Yeah there is quite a lot of activity going on around the ship right now....maybe they can start making some progress.

I will now have to be prepared to feel the heat from the flame/s.

No flames from me. Like you, I am neutral, given that the 'facts' come from a media which is so interested with sensationalism.

The implication, by the media, of that photo in the French restaurant implies that the two were alone, an intimate tete a tete. However, assuming the print was genuine, it may well be that the table was set for any number of Concordia's crew where each and every crew member had a picture taken with the Captain.

This, of course would mean that every woman pictured with him was of easy virtue and every man was overtly gay. Or would it?

QUEEN MARY 2. And I'll be onboard too. Monday 5th March though. All owned by the same corporation.

Ooh, yes, Michelle! Pick her. She's gorgeous in a classic style that instantly makes you feel she's solid and safe. Nothing cheap-looking, you know? I'm not describing it correctly, but I think Pushka's suggestion is an excellent choice.

The big difference is that JFK and Clinton didn't ram a 14,500 ton ship into rocks. Here Schettino chose to be a "Rock" Star to his idolette over being a Captain to his passengers.

No, I suppose your right. JFK's love life was being interrupted by something so insignificant as the Cuban missile crisis.

'there is no smoke without fire'

Davy ... sorry to dissapoint you matey but there is!! ... :)

With regard to the so called E mail i am guessing that no one here has yet seen anything in the Media or translation as to its Proof ? other than one persons claim that it existed ?

Regarding the Schettino photo that someone posted it will more than likely have been a promotional one for Costa, notice that there is no other officers in the photo ... only the imported photo of Domnica.

Rick ... I notice that you did not respond to my reply to you regarding the photo of the sailby question you asked, reply is on page 30 post 589.

Actually he was tried by 3 courts. First, the Sanedrin Jewish Trbunal, for heresey. Second, by the Roman Court for Treason and Sedition. Third, possiby by the public, but they asked that Barabas be granted the Roman tradition of Passover clemency, not for the conviction of Jesus.

;) That sounds so much more scholarly than how I put it......

We had better watch out, Ozcruiser1 might start suspecting us lol......Alas I fear that the only love call one is likely to hear is that of the local gray seals in the Firth of Forth lol

Michelle the closest that I can find size wise would be Radiance of the Seas: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/ships/ship/decks/deck/home.do?shipCode=RD&shipProfile=1368

No flame thrower here.....just a tiddlywinks player ;)

It's possible Domnica had a schoolgirl infatuation with Schettino which was not requited - nothing more. The problem some people have is her presence on the bridge while a crucial manoeuvre was taking place.

I would say she was about as much a distraction as anyone or anything else that night. There were also reports Schettino was on the phone shortly before the crash - that's a big distraction in and of itself.

The point is there was no need for her to be on the bridge and it is human nature to conjecture. While some posters have open minds and take a wait and see attitude, some posters have extreme views that clash with others - that's when it gets heated here and time suit up with the triple layer fire retardant outfit. :)

Schettino has stated that he was at the controls when the accident occured....other information has him at a different location on the ship. But whether or not he was on the bridge....there HAD to be several officers situated there and I haven't heard any statements or read any testimony from them about how the accident occured. Has anyone read any statements from any officers on the bridge at the time of the collision? If not....doesn't that seem strange?

I cannot remember where I read it, but the Crew of the Concordia are under a Court Ordered Gag order. They cannot speak up or will face jail time.

According to this a movie will air tomorrow about the Concordia on UK television's Sky1 - not sure if it's a repeat of another documentary or a new one:

http://www.tvblog.it/post/32653/la-tragedia-della-nave-concordia-skyuno

Google Translation is here: http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=it&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tvblog.it%2Fpost%2F32653%2Fla-tragedia-della-nave-concordia-skyuno

Now I am off to read it.

I think you're right about that - this must have been the last article written where the crew was quoted before the gag order:

Rick ... will check out my mail .... anyone fancy a sail by here? glad it was quiet last May 2011 when we were there!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2098709/Football-stars-stranded-Italian-island-Sicily-Mount-Etna-bursts-life-forces-airport-closed.html

It was also quiet when we were there in 2000. Only a plume of smoke that continually ran from the volcano.

Thanks for sharing!

Rick
