Local Dubrovnik Cusine

Recommended Posts

Last fall on our Greek Isle cruise, we followed Terry in Ohio's advice for Dubrovnik! We hired two taxis right at the port and had them take us on the one hour tour including the panoramic overview of the city. It was so fantastic, we agreed to an additional hour which took us down the coast to another resort town. When they returned us to the walled city, we went directly to lunch at Komarda and believe me, even after such a good tour, it was a wonderful highlight to our day!!

Our delightful waiter (and we wondered possibly the owner?) asked if we liked fresh fish - of course we did! He brought out a selection on a platter and we told him to cook them all up for us. He asked if we had a "few minutes" for them to cook the fish on an outdoor fire. Well, it took more than a few minutes to stoke the fire, but the results were memorable!! They grilled us vegetables, deboned the fish at the table and served it all with wine. Simply delicious!! We were there for over two hours but we all enjoyed every minute of the experience!!

The outdoor area is shaded and just a stairway from the beach and the Adriatic Sea! What a haven on a hot day!

All six of us agreed that it was the first of many highlights of our trip! Many thanks to Terry in Ohio for his recommendations and great photos!!

BTW, if you 'google' Komarda in Dubrovnik, you will be able to view their extensive menu complete with photos.

Have a wonderful trip!

:)

Two hours for lunch is normal and yes it is well worth the wait to have grilled seafood. Another interesting choice for those who do not care for seafood is "dirty macaroni" one of my favorite dishes.
