Boston pier - best way to get there?

We need to get from New Durham, N.H. to the Boston pier.

Any suggestions? We'll have a rental car in New Durham so wondering

if it would be best to drive to Boston airport, drop the car there,

and take a shuttle (if there is one) to the pier. Thanks for the help.

Unlikely there would be a shuttle (but you should check!) from an airport location. Best bet might be a downtown (or near downtown) dropoff for your rental car (Dorchester and South Boston are closest to the pier), with maybe a shuttle from there, or a cheaper cab ride than from Logan.

Do you know offhand which rental car companies have a drop-off site near the cruise terminal, and if this is the pier that RCCL uses as well? Thanks

The main dropoff for all the car rental companies is near the airport (through the tunnel -- you don't want to do that if you don't have to!

 

You'd have to check the individual companies to find out who might have a drop off closer to the pier, or maybe someone else here would know, I don't.

When I cruise in and out of Boston last September, there was no car rental drop off near the pier. We were advised that we should pick up and drop off our car at the airport and then go on our own from the airport to the pier.

 

The Black Falcon Cruise Ship Terminal from Boston's Logan Airport was a $20 cab far (including tip).. that includes the mandatory $4.50 bridge toll or whatever they charge for anyone getting in a cab leaving from the airport
