suzzek Posted February 7, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2012 I need some input...we are arriving into Miami several days ahead of the cruise departure time. We plan to rent a car and drive up the coast to visit friends and back early on the day of departure. We will be returning the car to the airport. Is there a shuttle from the airport to the POM or should we plan to take a taxi? If we take a taxi, about how much should it cost, and how long will it take to get to POM? tunaman2011 Posted February 7, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2012 Greetings In the past you had to return the car to MIA and the rental companies had shuttles to the port. In Miami the airport and the port are about 9 miles apart. Good Sailing Tom
macruisefan Posted February 7, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 7, 2012 Depending on whom you are renting with, there may also be a more convenient location to return the car than the airport. I know Hertz has a location downtown (I believe First street), and they will shuttle you right out to the port. Generally, in the state of Florida, there is no fee for "one way" rentals. So the drop off fee is usually not an issue. Check with the rental company and see where they suggest dropping cars for the port.
