sml3 Posted February 8, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2012 I was just reading on trip advisor about the $2 admission fee. Is this new? We were there in May and weren't charged. Are the charis and umbrellas still $10? Has anyone just but a towel down on the sand without being hassled?
cb at sea Posted February 8, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2012 The beach is public...there shouldn't be a "fee" to use the beach at all. Now, some of the beach areas are for hotel guests....so you can't just walk up and use the hotel chairs/pool/facilities....but you don't need to....there are restrooms, chair rentals, watersport rentals, etc....all up and down 7 mile beach. Yes...you can throw your towel and yourself down with NO charges!

Royal Palms does not charge a fee to use the beach. The $2 fee is relatively new, and it is for using their facilities. You are welcome to throw down a towel on the beach for free, but you can't use the showers or restrooms at RP without paying the $2. Chair rentals, etc. remain at the same pricing as before. Facilities at Sea Grape and Tiki Beach are still free at this point, but both those areas tend to attract cruise ship excursions so can often be much more crowded. bookbabe Posted February 10, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 10, 2012 When you say Royal Palms are you referring to the Reef grill and bar? Thanks Yup. As far as I can tell, Royal Palms is the beach club part and Reef Grill is the restaurant there that's open in the evenings.
blue_water Posted February 10, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2012 Yes there's a pool at RP, we've always just hung at the Reef, great burger and perfect spot to relax. We'll be spending some time a short walk away later in the year, looking forward to that! http://royalpalmscayman.com/royal-palms-webcams

blue_water Posted February 15, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 15, 2012 There were lounges for rent as well as Jet-Skis, we didn't rent any so don't know the pricing but you can find great details on tripadvisor (Grand Cayman forum). We're staying at the Marriott just doen the beach and many popeople have said their day pass is also good.
