No beaches near the port, you will need to book a excursion with a private company or the cruise line to get to a beach.
funfamilyof6 Posted February 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2012 To get to any beaches from a cruiseship in Belize you have to take a tender to port and then get a water taxi or private excursion to whatever beach you want. There are not many beach options. The best and quickest way to get to a beach from a cruiseship is booking a beach excursion directly with your cruiseline. A lot of times the excursion boat picks you up directly from the ship and brings you directly to the beach. One beach they frequently go to is Bannister Beach. Colorado Kat Posted February 13, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2012 Yes, you really have to book an excursion to get to a beach. Belize is one island where I would not wander far outside the cruise compound. We have for short periods, but it is very poor, and you are approached by many people. Just want to clarify that Belize is a country located on the north eastern coast of Central America and not a island. The excursions with take you by boat to offshore islands. :)

Well, not enitrely true. Locals in Belize City head for Cucumber Beach which is maybe 20 minute cab ride from the Tourist Village. It's in a section called Old Belize. Manmade, and not exactly your ideal Caribbean beach, but still something relatively close by. http://www.oldbelize.com
