Galaxy from Baltimore to E Caribbean?

Hello:
Does anyone know when the 2005 itinerary will be available? I want to plan a cruise round trip from Baltimore sailing around April - June 2005. I called Celebrity, but I was advised that they cannot yet comment on that. Do the ship itineraries change every year?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the sailing I want will be available for my first cruise!

Thanks,
jwick

Sorry. The Galaxy is moving to Galveston at the end of the year. I belive that my cruise in October is the last sailing in which the Galaxy will return to Baltimore (so I've been told on my roll call board). I don't believe that there are current plans for another Celebrity ship to sail from Baltimore in 2005. I'm not too happy with Galvestonians either. Oh, that just figures!

Well, maybe I can find something that I like sailing from New York or Philadelphia. I know they have (or at least have had) cruises from these ports to Bermuda, but I had my heart set on sailing on one of the newer, larger ships.

I'll just have to keep an eye out and consider sailing another cruise line.

Thanks for the reply!

Galaxy indeed is moving to Galveston in November of this year to start a series of 11 or 12 day Panama Canal cruises. That schedule goes into at least April 2005. We're booked for March '05 and are really excited that Celebrity is offering this cruise. Can't seem to find anything official that says where Galaxy will go from Galveston after April '05.

Until Galaxy

FWIW - we just returned from the Galaxy 4/16 Western Car. CD stated that Galaxy pax have been complaining about the poor embarkation experience in Baltimore and RCCL has decided that after 3 yrs. of no improvement to use the RC brand there until the port gets its act together. The thinking is that RC pax will have lower expectations then those who choose Celebrity so won’t be as disappointed.

jwick...although we enjoy cruising with Celebrity we had a difficult time finding cruises to destinations and also out of the ports that we were specifically looking for. We usually cruise with my Mother in Law and she does not fly so we stay with ports like Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York. We finally decided on Norwegian Cruise Line roundtrip out of New York and destination of Exotic Southern Caribbean 2/2005. We have cruised with NCL 13yrs ago and had a wonderful time.

The ships frequently change itineraries based on the cruise lines perception of the marketplace. In some cases the itinerary is changed after the brochures have already been printed. Galaxy was supposed to sail in the Mediteranean last summer as listed in the brochure. A decision was subsequently made to shift Galaxy to the Caribbean.

Donuts, is there anything they can't do....

Thanks for all of your responses!

It's weird, I heard that Celebrity will not have any more ships sailing out of Baltimore, and I also heard that the Galaxy will be sailing out of Baltimore as of May 2005.

I guess it's just a matter of frequently checking with the cruiselines and agents.

I know a few people who have sailed RCCL and had a wonderful time!

Thanks,
jwick

All I really care about is that Galaxy stays in Galveston through our March sailing. Seems to me some of the lines have been switching itineraries and canceling stuff quite a bit lately. Hope that enough folks sign up for the Galveston cruises so that they don't change thier minds and move Galaxy to some other port. We got a fantastic deal on our March cruise and there's no other line out there right now that comes anywhere close to matching it. Realize Galveston is not exactly the easiest port to get to but it's really no worse than flying into Orlando and getting transportation to Port Canaveral.

Until Galaxy

Jwick, You can sail out of Bayonne NJ on the Voyager of the Seas, RCCl. I love Celebrity better but I have sailed Voyager and had a really good time. It has a lot to do on the ship and I think you will have a good time on her. This year she sails the Carribean for nine day cruises from May til Oct. she also does five day Canada cruises in between the carribean ones. I suppose she will do the same next year. Pat

Galveston benefits from a huge drive market -- you've got three of the 10 largest cities in the U.S. within 4-5 hours of driving to the port & Texas alone has close to 20 million residents -- plus many more in neighboring states. Add the fly-in market and nice weather year-round and its easy to see why Galveston has seen such hugh cruise growth the last 3 years. Six cruise ships will be home-ported there this coming winter.
