Calling Home?

I am leaving next Sunday May 1st on the Valor going to the Western Caribbean. I will be leaving my husband at home with my 3 sons and would like to keep in touch every couple of days.From reading boards i gather my nextel wont work. Do you know if there are phone stores in port where i can purchase a phone card and use their phones?Any help will be greatly appreciated. :cool:

If your phone has GSM capabilities, it should work (maybe not while sailing, but at the ports). I know that Cingular's work in Belize & Mexico. It's REALLy expensive to call from Belize though ($3.49 a minute), whereas Mexico is .69$ a minute.
