EtheB Posted February 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2012 PO appear to restrict the number of children on any one cruise to a specific number, broken down further into several age groups. Does anyone actually know what these numbers are, and whether they vary much by cruise or are they fixed per ship?

Kiwi Kruzer Posted February 15, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2012 The restriction is geared to the available facilities for children on each ship and also to the number of staff that each ship has to work with the children. When Pacific Princess was based in Australia , the ship had no designated children's area and was limited to only 25 children for each cruise. Cruise ship fan Posted February 15, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2012 I may point out that they increase these numbers over christmas due to the huge demand for families with kids onboard the ships.

Aussie71 Posted February 18, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 18, 2012 if in doubt ring P&O:D I agree. We initially tried to book online at the Best Cruises web site for the Pacific Dawn June school holiday cruise, to no avail. They had sold their quota of children tickets in just one of our kids age brackets and therefore our booking was not accepted. I even telephoned Best Cruises to book. The company was very helpful and explained the situation. On advice from a Best Cruises, I tried P&O a few weeks later and they accepted our booking over the phone. The most frusting part was being on hold for so long waiting for a booking officer. Over all the person who accepted our booking was plesent and helpful and I was vey surprised and happy. Cruisequeenoz Posted March 1, 2012 #12 Share Posted March 1, 2012 When I was on the Sun in Novmber 2011 there seemed to be only a few kids around the decks, but when I attended the concert on the last full sea day, they just kept coming and coming and coming down the stairs to go onto the stage. I don't know where they hide them!!! :D

Cruise ship fan Posted March 3, 2012 #15 Share Posted March 3, 2012 Just remember numbers change throughout the year depending on need. For instance Christmas and Easter. As well as school holidays receiving a slight increase, but not as large as the main holidays.
