Another clothing question

I am starting to plan for several days in Venice, starting April 16 and then 10 day cruise from Venice ending with a few days in Athens the beginning of May. I have checked the temperatures, but I'm now trying to translate that to actual clothing choices. Coming from the. Midwest, we are still wearing winter, but would spring and lighter weight be more appropriate? Have only travelled Med in fall and winter. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes, spring and lighter weight things will be appropriate and comfortable. You'll want some kind of rain coat/jacket which can also provide warmth in the evenings. Layering is the key.

Agree strongly with the wise euro cruiser. Layering is the thing, especially during the early and somewhat unpredictable mid April period. Generally, it should be nice, but as noted, it can be cooler in the early mornings and/or evenings.

From this helpful website:

http://www.wunderground.com

you can plug in each port you plan to visit, check its current weather and then look lower on the page to get the past history data on each different date. Do the specific date for your visit in that port and you can see its history for 2011 and earlier.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Did a June 7-19, 2011, Solstice cruise from Barcelona that had stops in Villefranche, ports near Pisa and Rome, Naples, Kotor, Venice and Dubrovnik. Enjoyed great weather and a wonderful trip. We have done two November cruises and one May cruise.......

We arrived May 3rd in Rome to find it still quite chilly - borderline cold at night (2 nights pre cruise)........ by the time we got back after an 11 night cruise it was not quite hot, but getting there during the days and nice at night.

Layer. You never know.
