Cupcrazy Posted February 19, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2012 I'm always seeing people on these boards asking about packing their suits. Should you pack it in your suitcase or should you bring a suit bag. I found a youtube video showing how to fold your suit without creasing it. jmf123 Posted February 19, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2012 That is impressive precision folding! I worked in a men's clothing store for seven years and always though turning the suit jacket inside-out before folding was the way to go. (And rolling the tie to prevent wrinkles). Thanks for sharing the video. :)
Yorkiebargirl Posted February 19, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2012 That is how I always fold all clothing and shirts before putting them away after laundering. One persons tip I saw recently was don't have the suit cleaned until you get on board then it comes back from the ship dry cleaner perfect, I thought it was a brill idea! Seago2 Posted February 19, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Very cool!! I usually iron everything, put everything on hangers, lie things in a pile, then fold inward from the outside. Then I stick the whole thing in the suitcase and pack small stuff around it. Then when I get to the ship I just hang the hangers. I wear a suit every day and throw it in a heap every night- they really don't wrinkle much;).
cruisinmimiof3 Posted February 19, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2012 You never been on one of my cruises! Or I never noticed you on the lido deck in a suite, and I think I would have noticed!:p
Putterdude Posted February 19, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Interesting video and thanks for sharing it with us. I have a roller garment bag in which my tux and shirts hang and fold just once when I close the bag, never have had a wrinkle.
Judy Cutee Posted February 19, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 19, 2012 We always have our formal items cleaned the first night of the cruise you always get them in time for formal night and they are pressed perfect and no need to worry how you pack them. My other best packing tip is take mostly older underwear and throw them away as you go . Take just new for formal nights if your worried about that. Always take one or two less t-shirts then you need because doesn't everyone buy at least one or two on every trip. Pack once then remove half your items we all know we over pack because don't we all spend half our time in a bathing suit take at least two and a cover up. My list always includes a black or white pair of pants or caprice for mixing and matching. Pick a color scheme stick with it. You need less shoes, jewerly, purses and acesssories. Judy Cutee Posted February 19, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Packing Tips. Use ships laundry first night, send all formal ware it doesn't matter how you pack it. We don't pay much more on a ship and no need to worry about packing procedures. Everything is clean and pressed by the next day ready for first formal night. Pack old underwear and throw away as you go.Pick a color scheme for clothes and make sure most stuff can be wore with other separates. Always have a black or white dress pants or skirt. Pack then unpack and re- pack half. We all pack at least 2 extra outfits.Pack at least 2 bathing suits because on a cruise in warm climates don't you spend most of your time in a bathing suit but take a great cover up or use a dress you wore first night.Take 2 less t-shirts than you need doesn't everyone buy at least one from the ship or a stop. Hope others add their best tips for packing!

FlaGrl4Evr Posted February 19, 2012 #10 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Martha Stewart devoted an entire show to secrets of packing. She said to fold the clothing in tissue paper and there will be no wrinkles. I tried it, and it worked. Maybe you can google it. :)
wwcruisers Posted February 19, 2012 #11 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Packing in tissue paper works for things in suitcases. For hanging things in garment bags, if you cover each hanging garment individually in a dry-cleaning (thin plastic) bag -- you will get less wrinkling with those garments.
LuckyZ Posted February 20, 2012 #12 Share Posted February 20, 2012 We roll all our items up into a tight ball, and then you pack everything tightly inside the suitcase. Works every time.
sjcruiser Posted February 20, 2012 #13 Share Posted February 20, 2012 Awesome technique!!! I love this more than using dry cleaner bags. I had to add this my my YouTube favorites, and it ranks right up there with "how to tie a bow tie."
