It is probably cheaper to get money from the ATM since you are now paying 3% in the casino.

However, some CAS guests do not have to pay the fee depending on how much they gamble

We didn't get charged on the Epic last year nor on the Spirit this past November. Had no idea why.

It is also harder to get over $999 at the cage now as well. On our October cruise I asked for $1,000 and was told it would take 15 minutes to process. Anything under $1,000 is immediate (including the 3% fee). Sure would be nice if they waivied that fee for CAS cruisers.

Well that sucks about the 3% charge. Now I have to think about buying on-board credits, taking a wad of cash, or getting hit with the ATM or casino desk charges. Totally understand that they are trying to make $ with as few operational changes as possible.

Don't spend too much time worrying about buying on board credits....you can't. See earlier in the thread. Max 1 of each denomination.

An alternative that may work for you would be to set up line of credit with NCL before your cruise. We did this and avoided the 3% charge and carrying large amounts of cash. NCL casino credit application available on their website.
