stoddaj1 Posted February 25, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2012 We found a company who rents boats by the day and are considering it for this stop of our cruise. (Moore Marine) Our though is that we will be able to enjoy a day on the water and take ourselves to the stingrays, 7 Mile Beach etc. Has anyone done a similar thing and if so, who did you use? There are 8 of us so the rental is fairly reasonable compared to the individual excursion costs.
bookbabe Posted February 25, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2012 Is at least one of your party an experienced boater? You'd want someone with you with at least some boating experience. If so, it's doable. I'm not sure if it's a great idea to try to go over to Seven Mile Beach, though, since you would have to circle half the island to get there...you'd be better off going to Rum Point, or even the Kaibo since they're in the same general area as Stingray City. stoddaj1 Posted February 25, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted February 25, 2012 Yes, there are a few experienced boaters in the group so we are not really worried about that, fortunately. Logistics from the cruise ship could be more of an issue...time, location etc.

Miss the channel and the boat hits the reef. Local knowledge is important.
