cavydad Posted February 26, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2012 We are looking for a hotel with character in Buenos aires. Both Rooneys and the Claridge seem to fit the bill. We will be in Buenos Aires next February and I want to book while rooms are available.
DougH Posted February 27, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2012 I've stayed at the Claridge on two visits and liked the location in the central business district. Their daily breakfast buffet was nice and the staff helpful in arranging tours, taxi etc. Be aware the bathrooms are very small.
dabear Posted March 2, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2012 We also stayed at Claridges and were satisfied with the room, service and breakfast buffet. DW liked it being so close to Florida shopping area.
sddsddean Posted March 3, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2012 Was in the Claridge just over a week ago. Hotel needs a bit of a makeover (some nasty stains on carpets and walls need repainting[esp. obvious near the Aircon vents]), but it is fine for 3 or 4 days. There is no tea/coffee in room (which is a bit of a pain) and as said bathrooms are small. The bidet in ours was directly behind you as you stood at the basin which was not ideal. Also the bath was only a 3/4 size as you are obviously expected to use the shower! Breakfast buffet is good and evening bar and food is acceptable, though they can be a bit slow sometimes. Location is good..20 min walk to start stop of HOHO bus, 20 min walk to Retiro station, right beside the Florida pedestrianised shopping area. Loads of eateries around. Beware pavements (sidewalks)...they are either uneven (like...big holes!) or have the dreaded dog poo...look where you are going!! Simon

Pokemomma Posted March 25, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 25, 2012 We were very happy with the Claridge when we were there in 2009. Expecially loved being able to jump in the (small) pool at the end of a long day of sightseeing.
