What happens if carry-on too big for xray machine?

i measured my small suitcase, think it will fit, but if it doesn't will they put it to the side to be checked in elsewhere by their bigger machine?

anyone experienced this at security check-in? sailing out of nola.

you'll probably need to give it to the porters..

 

if it's standard airline carry on size you're fine

And it cannot be scanned at check-in, it will be hand searched.

I saw ths happen to a guy in front of me. ( He may have been crew or entertainment, he was traveling with another young man and appeared so bored, blasé and pained about boarding that I cant believe he was headed on vacation)

So they made him step aside and opened the whole bag, and looked through it, sending any larger components ( smaller bags inside) through the scanner seperately.

I've carried on a 24 inch tall suitcase several times with no problems. It's not so much the length of the suitcase but the height and width that matters.

 

Be sure to carry on any valuables-do not put those in your checked bag. Or things like medicines should be carried on.
