Carnival Liberty Leap Year Review (2/25 - 3/3)

Nice review and thank you for the photos.... brought back some great memories of our families cruise on the Liberty. I had to laugh when I saw the pic of the piano bar... The adults from our group were in their one night and watched a dozen people walk into those mirrored poles. That was after I walked into one of them :o. Its kind of like a sobriety check point in the middle of the room.

Up on deck 11 is the jogging track and sports deck. You have to walk through the sports courts to get to the stairs to the mini golf course and whale tail. On the opposite side of the mini golf course is a great sunning deck that hardly anyone knows about (well I guess they do now :o).

Looking down to both the Red Frog Rum Bar and Blue Iguana Tequila Bar. The towel hut is just to the right of the Tequila Bar where you get your sports stuff and believe it or not, towels.

As we made our way up the tiered decks leading to the Serenity Area I got a shot of the twister slide. I'm pretty sure this is identical to the Pride's slide and therefore pretty good. But I'm really looking forward to checking out Water Works on the Breeze.

Well we finally made towards the front of the ship and one side of the Serenity Area. MUCH bigger than that on the Pride. Everyone loves it (especially the chair hogs). Fortunately they had not arrived yet.

Serenity Bar - not sure how many people knew this was back here since it was never busy

I really wanted to start my cruise off with a Red Frog Infused with Captain Morgan but seeing as how they were doing some work on the bar, we just went with a regular DOD.

After killing the first drink a little too quick, my boy Sean at the Red Frog got me my special drink and it was great. Seeing as how it was drink #2 we decided it was time for a Guy's Burger. The Burger stand is right next to the Red Frog just as the Burrito bar is right next to the Tequila bar. Let me just say this....yes, everything you've heard is true. They are exquisite. The spicy ranch is awesome with the fries and the burgers are a huge upgrade over what was previously offered. They could easily get away with charging for these but I'm oh so glad they aren't.

My love just got home so that's all for now. Hope you're enjoying :D

Ah, I love being on the Liberty with you! Only been home a lil over a month and I'm still having major withdrawls. :D

This looks so much like the Splendor, minus all the pink.
Noooo. There's no fried eggs on the ceiling in the MDR. :D

Great review and your photos are fantastic! I am so impressed they have a Kane jersey in the sports bar (although if they had to pick a 'hawk I would rather see a Toews or Sharp) since hockey is rarely represented. So cool!

Reading this is making me so excited for my trip in July!

are there pool tables in the casino in 1 of your pictures????

Yep. You can get the billiard balls and cues from the sports bar. Only saw people playing once or twice though.

Awesome review and pictures. I am sailing next month on the Liberty and can hardly wait to read the rest of your review. Did you sail the Eastern or Western Carribean? Thanks

Meant to put that in the title :o, Western Caribbean.

Yea! It is a Chris and Cass review! Can not wait to read/see more!

Hi Jen:D

Hi All!! Thank you so much to all for the wonderful comments - we love doing these reviews - it's like an online scrapbook to use to go back and remember everything! Granted we don't have super-duper SLR pictures, but hopefully our amazing charm and wit will even it out ;)

WOOHOO! THE Review is starting. Thanks for getting it going Chris...figured it'd be tomorrow at the earliest. BTW, notes for th enext time: At MIA, if you'r hungry...grab a Cuban from the La Carreta in Temrianl D. Certainly better than a pizza from the airport.

Thanks early for sharing the cruise.

Hi Crewsweeper!! I wanted to tell you now in case we forget by the time we get to the gym pics - we didn't get a picture of it, but I'm 99.9% certain they have one of your rower machines - Concept 2 I think? It's in front of the ellipticals next to the wipe-down towel racks!

enjoying the review and defintely the pictures, I am wondering.

1.If you have the fun times

2.what bands were playing

3.who were the comedians.

thank you,

John

Hi John! Yes, We have all the Fun Times - I will be scanning them at the end and uploading to Google Docs and posting links here - that worked well last time.

In the meantime, I can tell you the 2 comedians in the beginning of the cruise were Mark Simmons and Allyn Ball. We didn't get to catch Allyn, but saw Mark and he was HILARIOUS (in our opinion!). The second half of the cruise featured Chas Elstner and Percy Crews. We didn't see either, but friends of ours caught Percy and said he was funny. I think we saw him on the Pride once and wasn't too terribly impressed (the "adult" was just adding swear words) but each to his/her own!

As for the bands, I can't give recommendations, but the Fun Tims show these: Jams with TJ; DJ Steven; New Dawn; Mambo Chilango; High Rise; DJ Electra and DJ Steven; and Christopher Allen Graves (one night only looks like?)

Hope that helps!

Also, for our Breezer friends that asked about smoking on the ship - as Chris alluded to earlier, we are non-smokers, but I did take note that almost the entire starboard outdoor side up on deck 10 where all the deck chairs are (above the new bars) allowed smoking, as did the one side of the Casino Bar (and a large section of the casino as well)
