LOS 2/27 first time cruiser review! L>O>N>G

Still with you. OMG - the amount of food & the type of food your son eats is making me jealous - I wouldn't have fit in any of the clothes I had packed if I ate that way.

So happy - it looks as though you're both having a blast!

I am glued to your posts ! Love all the pictures and I feel like I am with you every step of the way. Can't wait to read more !

My son is 20 and absolutely cannot wait to try all the food. He is quite interested in the fact that food is free and he can have seconds, and he can order a plate of cookies late at night, etc. He is 6'4" and weighs about 185 pounds or so. He is a good eater :)

Looking forward to the rest......

Thanks for sticking with me:) Not sure if anyone has ever posted quite as many pics, but I know I LOVED reading reviews with pictures to help me get a better idea of what was ahead! Hopefully I will get my second wind to post the last three days of our trip SOON!

End of day four~

After we got back to the port we had about 20 minutes to shop! There were a TON on jewelry stores and I had a few I needed to go to so I could get the FREE item they were advertising. I had some flyers from the seminar we had attended earlier in the week on our sea day. Then off to find a few things for us and make it back to customs before the ship left. HAJ there was so much more I would have liked to see at the stores, but we were in our wet suits from the day and my son was too worried about not getting to the ship on time. It was RIGHT THERE so I had no worries about not getting back on.

We were too tired to get all dressed up for supper (think it was white night and we didn’t get the memo and had no white clothes) so we just ate in the Windjammer again. Had a mellow night sitting in the hot tub and sat on our deck. Found some cool fruit sculptures and our room had an awesome hanging towel that was our favorite!

Day five ~ At sea

No alarms to wake us up so it was a lazy morning. Ate breakfast again in the Windjammer went back to our room to plan our day. After the BIGGEST breakfast my son had eaten to date:

that is 4 donuts, 2 pancakes, 6 pieces of bacon AND a bacon, cheese egg omelet plus drinks~~~

After breakfast we decided to try our luck at the rock wall.

Cody was first and he did AMAZING! He made it to the top with no issues and no hesitations.

Now me on the other hand made it half way and freaked out (only a little~ palms sweating, can't grip a thing and legs shaking....LOL) so when I slipped I was left dangling from the rope and slowly dropped down.

We also (or should I say Cody tried) the flow rider. Now this was a BLAST to watch and I sort of wish I would have done it now. But he waited in line and the session was boogie boarding. When it was his turn, he got down like a pro... the only issue was his suit was riding a little low on the bum area and with he wave he hit, they rode down a little more. The audience was laughing by now and then the BIG wave hit and just the right angle and we saw more of my son's bumper than we wanted! Ha ha... thank goodness I had the flipcamera the whole time! He had a great time even with the pants issue. When he tried to lift the pants back up the wave took him up and his turn was "wiped out!"

Our evening was spent with some pizza from the Sorrento's and watching a movie (Pirates of the Caribbean) on the deck while sitting in the hot tub! We switched to the lounge chairs for part of the time to cool off.

I did sneak off to watch the sunset .....

To cap the night off we went to the Final show.

There was a juggler/ comedian and he was SO FUNNY! There was a slide show of cruise highlights and other performers! Great end to a great cruise!

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER! Not sure if I even mentioned this but it was a GREAT, GREAT show! Even my son loved it. No pictures of course because they said not to (and I listened... some flashes proved others did not) Hehe........

Going home day :-(

I set the alarm for 6 am because I wanted to see one more sunrise from the ship and I wanted to see us pull into port. I woke my son up to see that we were back, then he went back to bed. Our luggage was placed outside out room the night before so we only had our one carryon to deal with and our schedule time to leave wasn't until 9:40.

Little hazy so not much of a sunest, but it was neat to see the other cruise ships in the distance coming into port behind us! (note the ships seen are not cruise ships... but they showed up the best.)

Day 7.... the LONG journey home!

The morning started out with an early morning ride to the airport. Flight leaving at 8:05 am so we checked in at 6:30 am. So far so good! We boarded the plane and the captain came on... there is an issue that they are going to work on so it will be a short wait at the terminal. Waiting, waiting, waiting... problem is taking longer that origainally thought. They told the passengers that had connecting flights to head back into the terminal so we could get new flight plans. AS we wait to get OFF the plane the pilot again comes on and says now ALL PASSENGERS have to get off plane. Ok... we are sitting in the back of the plane so we have to wait for 33 rows in front of us to get off. WE head over to the phone banks to try to get new flights home. an HOUR LATER and no change in flight plans.... there were ZERO OTHER SEATS ON FLIGHTS INTO FARGO other than the ones we already had. However unless the plane got fixed soon we would miss out connection in Cincinnati to Minneapolis. Headed back to terminal to talk to gate agents. (along with a gazillion others trying to get back on the plane)

cruise2012canon595.jpg

it was a LONG wait for flight.....

cruise2012canon593.jpg

We were on the next flight to Cincinnati and we would make the Minneapolis connection is everything went like clockwork! And we would have to rush to connecting gate. OK

At least it was a rainy day in Florida so we were ok leaving.

cruise2012canon594.jpg

Boarded the plane and we were off! Landed in Cincinnati and got to our connecting gate. um.... there is a mechanic on THAT plane? He has been there since the morning???? 100% passengers are going to miss connecting flights since this one wasn't going anywhere anytime soon??? seriously??!!! LOL Still had a good attitude.... gate agent worked for 30 mintues trying to get us home. Nothing to Fargo until the next night. Only 2 seats left (first class upgrade!!!). Ok... Hotel comped in Cincinnati, afternoon flight to Minneapolis then evening flight to Fargo. Ok... we can handle this. Extra day of vacation!

another great hotel room!

cruise2012canon597.jpg

more hot tub time!

20120304_171934.jpg

first class seats home! Spoiled travelers now! :-)

Wonder if I get the reward for longest cruise review?! LOL

Seriously! This was more for me to remember and to "give back" to all those reviews that got me ready for my turn and if you are still with me , thanks for reading! :-)

Has such an amazing time that I am already saving for next year.

I will end the review with my favorite views of "the end"

I enjoyed your review, even if I had terrible trouble viewing your photos (some were not visible, others would appear and as soon as I started scanning down, would disappear). Oh well, I've sailed Liberty twice so I know what she looks like.

I loved the shots of your son on the flowrider. I just took my 14 yo to buy a new rash guard shirt with a loop to tie to the bathing suit, as we've done the flowrider before and those behind shots are too funny. I'm surprised that he didn't spend more time up there. Mine will be there every single time they have open time, as he can boogie board and stand up surf. This time, my younger one is finally tall enough so I scheduled another lesson for them (second for older boy, first for younger) the first night on board so they both have some time without the crowds. My 14 yo is a flowrider junkie.

Sorry your flights back home were such a mess, but nice of the airlines to give you the hotel and upgrade you to first class.

Thanks! I noticed that my pics were acting funny at times too... Maybe too many overload! LOL My son is kind of ho hum about many things. I figured he would be on the flowrider more too. Hopefully we can do it again.
