SonomaMist Posted March 16, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2012 Thanks for the links. Seems to be mixed reviews That's what I thought - but I'm sure there will be trip reports coming in soon. Although it has to be paid 8 weeks before, I'm thinking that they will take reservations right up until the last minute.
Mparis184 Posted July 10, 2012 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2012 That's what I thought - but I'm sure there will be trip reports coming in soon. Although it has to be paid 8 weeks before, I'm thinking that they will take reservations right up until the last minute. Paid 8 weeks in advance? I have never paid for a private excursion before the tour and have probably been on 35 or more tours. We have always paid the driver AFTER the tour. I have had tour companies ask for a credit card number to hold our reservation but my card was never charged - we always paid in cash at the end of the tour. I would be uncomfortable paying before the tour. There have also been situations when the ship had to miss a port because of bad weather. Nothing was lost because no money was exchanged. tigercruiser Posted July 12, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 12, 2012 we used this last month in Naples to do the Amalfi tour. I didn't like paying in advance, but I have to say that the excursion was excellent. The four from my family, plus two people from another ship, in a clean Mercedes van with a driver and a guide. The price was unbeatable and the guide was terrific. It did appear to me that the company subcontracts these tours, so I don't know if experiences in other ports or with other excursions would be this good. But I would do this one again in a heartbeat

My sister is cruising onboard Carnival Breeze next month and is considering using the 'Rome on your own' Civitavecchia - Rome return transfer service. The price is good and the company confirmed they do collect passengers from 'other ships' but leave the Port between 7.30/8.00am - leaving Rome between 3.00/3.30pm. Has anyone used them from Civitavecchia, if so, how did you get on?

Has anyone used them from Civitavecchia, if so, how did you get on? I've just read a review from someone who used this company in several cities. It's in the roll call section for NCL spirit-sailing date 27 June they reported the trips to be good but are subcontracted and so may be luck of the draw as to how good the guide is.They were very cheap. one caveat-in Civitiveccia the bus was not allowed into the port area so they had to take one of the oversubscribed shuttle bus to the port entrance which wasted a lot of time
Susan-M Posted August 1, 2012 #10 Share Posted August 1, 2012 Just a suggestion to read the two threads on the first page of the Tripadvisor Cruise Forum for feedback. A few people are reporting success with cruisingexcursions.com, but many are reporting being left behind and missing out on tours. The feedback is from recent cruisers. Hi, I just read your post about http://www.cruisingexcursions.com. I'm looking at the 6 port special they have for Norwegian Spirit in the Med., but would like to know more about them. Are you doing a Med cruise in Oct.? Reading mixed reviews, but price is great!
maryann ns Posted August 24, 2012 #12 Share Posted August 24, 2012 Again it should be mentioned that paying in advance is not a good idea and with so many other operators and DIY options, it should not be necessary. There is no way I would do this.
tlsrn Posted August 28, 2012 #13 Share Posted August 28, 2012 Just returned from the Norwegian Epic and we used cruising excursions for the 5 port special and it went very well. We enjoyed each of the ports. We saved a lot of money b using them which was a plus.
Red Hat Cruise Cat Posted August 28, 2012 #14 Share Posted August 28, 2012 I checked out http://www.cruisingexcursions.com for their Lanzarote South Tour. Their price for this 4.5 hour tour in November is $181.53 per person:eek::eek::eek:. Holland America's exact same 4.5 hour ship tour is $79.95. I thought their website was incorrect, so I sent an e-mail, and their response was the $181.53 per person was correct. Needless to say, I won't be using them
shirchia Posted May 24, 2013 #15 Share Posted May 24, 2013 We took an excursion (Essential Pisa & Florence). Few comments; We didnt get an intro to Pisa at all, when we asked about Pisa - tourguide said he was unable to answer any questions as he was only an expert about Florence eventhough pisa was part of the tour. We found this quite puzzling! No clear instructions about pick up location. Part of tour waited right at cruise exit vs taking the shuttle to the main entrance, which resulted in almost a 90minute delay. Could definitely use some improvement! After checking their reviews online on cruisecritic and trip advisor, I would choose a different tour company, google their name and you will understand what I am saying. as I said on a different thread, sometimes saving money = spending little more!! Rare Cloudyrain Posted May 27, 2013 #23 Share Posted May 27, 2013 We used them in Naples for Pompeii and for Florence/Pisa. We had no problems other than other guest not bringing euros (?????), guests not able to keep up and then wandering off looking in shops not at the shopping time, and guests not turning up at agreed times!!! At one point we waited 30 minutes for someone to eventually say "oh, if it's my husband you're waiting for he decided not to come as he was too late in the casino last night ha ha ha" - if she had bothered to tell the staff that when she got there they wouldn't have been waiting for a person who had "checked" onto the bus but never got on. The staff and the information was good, and the price was a lot better than NCL. I'm going to make sure I put a proper review on the relevant sites because it's often people with complaints that make an effort to comment, whereas it's easy to forget to compliment, or a "we were happy with what we got" comment! alpal1993 Posted June 19, 2013 #25 Share Posted June 19, 2013 Just got back from our dream vacation. We used cruising excursions for 5 ports and over all would recommend this company. The tours were very complete, bus was comfortable and in many ports were split into 2 or 3 groups depending on the amt of people.I guess this is good policy ,but for those who are on time not so much. They will wait for up to 1/2 hour for those who can't seem to follow the instructions of what time to arrive. The problem is in Marseille we waited the 1/2 hour and it was not made up shortening our tour to Aix Provence. Also we were supposed to see Cezane workshop, but only got to see the garden area.If I had known this we would have staid in the town as it was lovely. Pisa and Florence Rosa was the best! What a little spitfire.Great tour of 2 beautiful cities. Rome our tour guide was Maria (of course) She was excellent as well.Covered alot of territory in 8 hours. Livorno tour was breath taking.Amilfy coast.Sorento and Pompeii .Another great tour guide and a fabulous day.Just FYI entrance to Pompeii was extra 11 Euro pp. Messina we were delayed as our ship arrived late ,but an hour earlier then we expected. The directive said to meet 1/2 hour after arrival.Several couple arrived at meeting point late so we lost time in Mt Etna, but made it up in Taorimina.another wonderful day.
