After lunch we had decided to just take it easy and walk around Florence and do a little shopping and take in the sites. We also wanted to head to the Dumo to get a few pictures in. Fabrizio showed us where he would be when it was time to leave and we headed off for the rest of our afternoon in Florence!

Now Florence is pretty famous for its leather products so my goal was to find a pair of gloves for our cold Chicago winters and maybe a wallet if I found one I liked. Paul and I also have a tradition where we buy a magnet in every city we visit on vacation so we wanted to find one of those as well. So we headed out for our adventure.

There were SO MANY beautiful displays everywhere I kind of went picture crazy along the way. Here are some pictures of our time shopping and for all of you food porn people out there you will really love a lot of these shots…

Our next stop would be the Jeweler’s Row Bridge. We wanted to get some shots in front of the river…

After the Dumo we walked around taking a couple more shots and enjoying some gelato before we moved onto Tuscany for some wine tasting.

It was time to meet Fabrizio back at the Sprinter so we said farewell to Florence and headed to Tuscany. The ride was once again breathtaking as we viewed mile after mile of grape and olive trees…

Absolutely loving your review. We took a ships tour while in Florence and Pisa and while it was great, I really wished now that we had booked Rome In Limo at that port too!!

We arrived at St. Michelle Winery in the Chianti region of Tuscany. The winery was very old and very beautiful. They gave us a tour of how they made wine and pressed olive oil and also showed us the cellar where they age the wine. The cellar was full of history and was even once used as a bomb shelter in World War II that saved 300 people. We took some great pictures during the tour…

These are the teracotta pots that they keep the pressed olive oil throughout the year.

600 year old Oak tanks where they ferment the wine. This cellar also served as a bomb shelter during World War II for 150 people.

Next we went to their tasting room and got to taste a bunch of different wines, olive oils and also some of their fresh farm products like cheese, salami and fresh vegetables.

The women doing the tasting went to pour Tanner a glass because in Italy teenagers drink wine with family (I don’t think there is even an age limit for drinking there, could be wrong though). Tish wasn’t going to let him at first but we all talked her into it. It was so funny how excited he was to try the wine! Tish kept saying "just a thimble full" and the wine tasting lady would pour half a glass. He slept the whole way back to the ship which was even funnier!
