i am being given 2 choices. cc with some perks room sz.191 with balcony of 41sf or this cabin with 271 sf and balcony of 242 sf. am i wrong in thinking fov better?

If it is on an M class ship, do the FV. Really great rooms. Besides, who needs the afternoon snacks with CC rooms? There is so much wonderful food available throughout the ship.

Go for the FV cabin as the cabin is larger and balcony is larger than even a Sky Suite. Only reason not to take it is if you don't like aft cabins (many do, but some don't). We stayed in an FV cabin on the Infinity and it was the best cabin we have had by far on our 5 cruises with Celebrity. There are some layout differences between the non-corner and corner FVs (the latter having a much bigger balcony and a slightly larger cabin).

Just got off the Summit on the 22nd, stayed in a FV cabin. No requirements of more than 2 at the time. Tried to book a FV cabin on the Infinity for March 2006, while on the Summit, and was denied. The reason, per Celebrity, was that the FV now had to have 5 people. Not sure what the answer is now, as it seems to blow with the wind, the person you talk with, and the cruise you are on. Anyways, if you can get the FV cabin, that is far superior to the CC cabin, especially the corner FVs.

On the M-class ships, there are few acccommodations for families. Ergo the former Cat 3 being called Family.

 

When fewer than the total berths are filled, the cruiseline loses money.

 

Have your agent read the new memo from Celebrity. It's spelled out very clearly.

That's not exactly true. Only on certain cruises does the 3+ rule apply to FV cabins. Usually this is during spring break or other times when there are a lot of families cruising together. Many have booked the FV cabins way in advance with only two passengers. For instance; we are on the Summit to Alaska this May. We booked a FV corner cabin. Only the two of us. However, if we had tried to book this same room to the the Caribean in April, it probably would have been a problem. Celebrity will let you know at the time of booking if you need to have 3 or more pax. Once booked, it's all yours.

Just an add'l note, most of the FV's on our May cruise are booked by couples. Some booked this last week. We changed from a CC room to an FV as soon as it became available. Most of the FV's opened up for booking within 2 months of the sail date. If they won't let you book the FV , try for an AFT CC as they have larger balconies than most of the other CC's. As you get closer to the sail date, ie: within the last 60 days, a lot of the AFT CC's and FV's may become available as final payments are due. We found both available within the last 30 days of our sail date. Just keep checking the Celebrity website every day. It may not show all the available rooms, so you'll have to type in the room numbers one at a time. Time-consuming, but worth it! :D
