Best local cuisine

I like to stay away from the tourist traps and 'chain' resturants and get a real feel of the local way of food, life and culture. Where is the best place you have eaten here and what did you eat? Bonus points for pics!!!! :D

You aren't going to find chains on Roatan. There are a couple nice local places in West End.

We liked Bite on the Beach if you are headed to West Bay. What are you looking for? Even the very casual spots on West Bay have fresh fish that is wonderful.

Few tourists end up in places where most of the locals eat. I think MonkeyLala in this thread has some very good info. Don't mind the snark in that thread your looking for info, not friends. :D

We are pretty much open to anything. I know Roatan doesn't have the 'chain' resturants but I also don't want to eat at the cruise village. Thanks for all the suggestions and keep them coming. We definitely love spanish food, my husband is dominican/puerto rican. I've never had baleadas but I love pastelitos. So excited!

Baleadas were like $2-$3US depending on filling. Pastelitos were like $1.75

Ahhh,

that would explain the "quotes" for authentic. Local Baleadas generally start at 10-12 lempiras, about 50-75 cents US and Pastelitos about 75 cents, But being a tourist high ent place if they are good its not a bad price, similar to the airport prices.
