From what I understand there will be celebrations all over Mexico to mark the date. We will be docking in Cozumel with the Allure on this date and wanted to know if there will be any events in the area?

you'll have to check the calendars as they go forward. There are a number of events being organized on the mainland. Some small some purportedly large with long lists of "invited" music groups but no definitives. On Cozumel, I think just the traditional Los Posadas festival will be going on from the 16th-25th.
