PhoenixDawgCruising Posted April 2, 2012 Author #26 Share Posted April 2, 2012 Finishing up my review of Day 1, I might as well mention the only thing that kept this from being THE PERFECT CRUISE (which I didn't think existed until now). The only one tiny little glitch I experienced on this ship took place less than 10 minutes after we boarded, and it wasn't just us, over 50% of the passengers had the same problem...our keycards did not open our cabin doors. Apparently their system was acting up, and it happens from time to time. That wasn't a big deal, the problem was the HUGE line that formed at Guest Relations with all the people trying to fix it all at the same time. I stood in line almost an hour to get my cards re-swiped, along with half the ship. The part that was a bit annoying was that they had like 8-10 windows at GR, and less than half of them were staffed. The minute they heard of the problem they should have gotten a body in every window.;) Not a big deal, and once it was fixed it was never an issue, but the hour wait is the only things that kept this cruise fron being prefect. Not bad.
PhoenixDawgCruising Posted April 2, 2012 Author #27 Share Posted April 2, 2012 Next up, Day Two, The Bahamas. We spent the day at Atlantis, one of our favorite places on earth. Expensive, but worth it!!
PhoenixDawgCruising Posted April 2, 2012 Author #28 Share Posted April 2, 2012 Day Two: The Bahamas-Atlantis Resort: This will give you an idea of how many people from the ship were on this excursion with us..too many. We quickly exited the group and made our way to the pool since we've been there before. The two drawbacks of this excursion were the cost ($750 for 5) and the time (departed at 7:45am, yuck, and had to leave by 1:30pm), neither of which could be helped. We had to be back on the ship at 2:30, and the slides don't open until 10, so it isn't that much time, especially for the cost, but we still loved it so it's ok. I am going to post several pics of the property because it is so beautiful. One note, for your kids, you must be at least 48 inches tall to ride the slides, my 7 year, old who is average height for his age is 50 inches so he was ok. Vests are available for weaker swimmers. And the Lazy River IS NOT LAZY, it's a roaring rapid that terrified me. My DH and DSs tricked me into riding it, first thing I see is a grown woman tip off her raft and bust her head. I hope she was ok. We made it fine, but I think it was kinda dangerous. If you go, hang on, and keep your butt and legs elevated or you will have bruises.

berbician Posted April 2, 2012 #30 Share Posted April 2, 2012 no problem at all thanks again for the wonderful review I will check your pics out on FB soon :) Sorry, I don't save those pesky things, I hate clutter, and on this ship, the entire thing is digital in your cabin and all over the ship, so they really should save the trees and stop printing them. I know lots of people post them and love them, I just throw them away, sorry.:)
PhoenixDawgCruising Posted April 2, 2012 Author #31 Share Posted April 2, 2012 A rare sighting of me on film. Like the elusive jungle cat, I am rarely caught on film. It's because I take all the pics!

PhoenixDawgCruising Posted April 2, 2012 Author #33 Share Posted April 2, 2012 A really big Ray. In case you are not familiar with Atlantis, besides several pools and waterslides, they also have an aquarium, water playground, a dolphin encounter (we didn't do that), and a huge casino. Just make sure you know exactly what you want to do before you book your excursion, because there are several packages of varying prices and each only includes certain activities. We booked Atlantis Adventurer, it gives you access to everything EXCEPT the Dolphin Encounter. And food and drinks are not included with any package, and the property only takes credit cards, no cash.

PhoenixDawgCruising Posted April 2, 2012 Author #44 Share Posted April 2, 2012 On our way back to the Oasis, you can see part of her in the background. REVIEW of DAY TWO-BAHAMAS/ATLANTIS: Atlantis Property: A+ Atlantis hours of operation: C (they should open the slides earlier) Fun Factor for Kids and Adults: A++++ Cost: Don't get me started!!! I know I keep bringing up the cost, I just hate to have to pay ship excursion prices. But we all had a fabulous time so I'm really just joking, not complaining.:)
PhoenixDawgCruising Posted April 2, 2012 Author #45 Share Posted April 2, 2012 Day Three-St. Thomas: Our plans for St. Thomas were to drive around for a while and take pics, then we had a 2 hour fishing charter booked. It was all fabulous, if you want info on the fishing trip just message me on FB or email me and I can give you the name and prices, I don't think I'm allowed to advertise them here.
