Question for veteran Alaskan cruisers - timing

Normal 1

Recommended Posts

Looking at booking a 2013 Alaskan cruise. My DH is very nervous about sea sickness. Initially considered back to back itineries in September (last 2 of the season). Would July/August be better to experience calmer seas? I realize lots of variables come into play but want to minimize if possible.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

It is useless to give this much priority, for smooth seas, no way to predict what you are going to experience. The edge toward July/August has, on average better weather, with Sept, the worse potential. Biggest difference is going to be significantly more daylight in July.

with this sea sickness concern- precautions are going to be necessary.

Thank you for the reply. We will be armed with a variety of remedies for sea sickness. His last experience was a small fishing charter in Hawaii where we encountered 10-12 foot seas!!! I've told him cruise ships are vastly different but do know that rough seas can be a problem at certain times (hurrican season in the caribbean!!).

Will have to re-consider July to maximize the extended daylight.

Thanks again for the input!
