Ronda from Malaga, any tips?

We are in Malaga from 8AM-Midnight, and are thinking of visiting Ronda. Not sure about DIY, mostly because we will have our 3 children with us and don't need to start the day unsure about transportation! Any advice/opinions on this tour, or good experiences with a guide?

Pretty tough to diy unless you are driving. there's a bus that takes you there but careful - it quits early - we went and luckily found out the last bus was leaving in 30 minutes:eek: So we had to leave very shortly.

Try Spainday tours - with 5 of you, you already have a substantial group.

We've used them before and were very happy. From Malaga, you can visit a lot of the towns using the train. (but not Ronda) if you want to diy. The train comes very often and is always on time. very easy to use:D

It's about 90 minutes by road.

There are stax of day-trip buses from hotels all along the coast & that would be an easy way to go.

Doesn't usually fit in with cruise ship stops but you have an unusually late departure.

The krunch would be whether you could find one which leaves the Malaga area late enough.

Biggest operator is

http://www.spaindaytours.com/bus-tour-costa-del-sol-tours.html

They quote departures as late as 09.25. I suspect that's the timing from further along the coast but an e-mail would confirm

Because of your late sailing, you could take the train but it involves a change with awful connection times, thus a total journey time about 3 hrs e/w. You have plenty of time to do that, the question is whether you want to spend about 90 mins of your day hanging around a railway platform.

I've got no experience of being driven to Ronda, I've always hired a car.

But you don't need a "guide", you just need a car & driver.

This route - out across country, & back down to the coast near Marbella will give you the best of the scenery - its about 90 mins by either route

You can hire a car for about €60 & the driving is easy. But nowadays you may find it difficult to rent for a day from depots near the rail station (reasonably handy for the port) so you may have to hire from/return to the airport
