sharlon Posted April 8, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Can anyone give me information about this hotel? We will be flying in the day before our cruise and aren't worried about shuttles. We will just take a cab. My question is primarily if there is anywhere to eat dinner nearby. We are a family of 5 and finding a room for 5 of us is not easy (no hotwire or price line for us). We prefer not to have a roll away, but may go that way depending on what info we can find about the Springhill. Thanks!
sharlon Posted April 8, 2012 Author #2 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Just read on Trip Advisor that the neighborhood isn't that great, so no restaurants in the area. Any other suggestions for a party of 5?
JohninDC Posted April 8, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Just read on Trip Advisor that the neighborhood isn't that great, so no restaurants in the area. Any other suggestions for a party of 5? Check out the Homewood Suites in the Blue Lagoon area near the MIA airport. Nice hotel (Hilton brand), great breakfast, manager's reception with free beer & wine Mon-Thurs afternoons :D, okay pool and hot tub area, and rooms that sleep 6 (2 queens and a sleeper sofa). Lots of dining and shopping options within walking distance, and free airport shuttles. Taxi to POM the next morning will cost you about $30. Sofitel and Hampton Inn are close by and might be options, but you will likely need a roll away with them. Good luck! :)
jessandtwo Posted April 8, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2012 We have stayed at the Residence Inn Miami Airport South on LeJeune. It is in a Marriott Complex with the Residence Inn, a Marriott and a Courtyard all in the same enclosed area. The Courtyard has a Champions Restaurant and the Marriott has a Cane Fire Grill and a Starbucks. They also have a free shuttle to/from the airport. We've actually stayed at both the Courtyard and the Residence Inn and they are both nice hotels.
sharlon Posted April 8, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Thank you both for the suggestions! John, I've got a reservation at the Homewood Stes. We are Honors Silver members, so that was a great suggestion. Of course, we are Marriott members too, so we may still look at those. Thanks again! When we last stayed there the dining choices in the nearby shopping center were Chinese, Italian (looked verty nice), and Cuban (Casa Juan - we enjoyed it but more recent reports indicate some health inspection issues ) and fast food (BK and others) plus, of course, Starbucks. Good luck!
