camper49 Posted April 11, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2012 We will be driving from the northeast in Jan. Cruising out of Miami, B2B on Carnival Destiny. Need suggestions for a few nights pre-cruise & one night after the cruise. Would like a hotel that allows you to leave your car while cruising. A shuttle to the port and back. Resturant near by. JohninDC Posted April 11, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2012 As downtown and Miami Beach hotels charge $25-30+/day for parking  just about all of the hotels offering these deals will be out near the MIA airport. If a shuttle is not offered both ways (to POM, sometimes; from POM back to the hotel, never :() plan on paying just under $30 (including tip) for a cab to POM and/or back to your car. Check out hotels in the Blue Lagoon area near MIA (Hampton Inn, Sofitel, Homewood Suites and others) - free airport shuttles if you want to use the Airport Flyer bus to get to Miami Beach for only $2.35 each :D and shopping and dining options are within walking distance. Most can arrange for shuttle service to POM for $10 per person, or you can cab it. The ride to POM will take about 15 or so minutes. Have a good cruise! :)
Rare crewsweeper Posted April 24, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 24, 2012 We stayed at La Quinta East on LeJuene Road. Not your 4 Star valet parking, manager reception, uber-cool suites type of place but good enough for a one night pre-cruise. They do have outdoor parking available for your cruise and a free shuttle to Port. Return is to airport though. No extra charge for parking tacked on to room rate like some packages in other hotels. We wound up parked at POM free because we have a Blue Handicap decal and all the required registration for it. Was very easy to enter and leave. As far as restaurants nearby, there are some chain type places in the Blue Lagoon vicinity. It's an easy trek down to Miami's Little Havana area, or out to Doral for good Cuban food. would recommend La Caretta, which has a couple of places near the airport.
